I would leave zero stars if that were an option. I do not have an ounce of faith in the business as a whole and do not understand how it functions under the current management. My friends wanted to do a “paint session” at this location. I have a background in ceramics so I have knowledge of the environment around clays, glazes and kilns, whereas (I’m sure) most people who come in these classes/sessions and In some cases, the front staff, do not have the same basic knowledge. The man, ****, who is “in charge and owns the place” would not leave me alone while my friends and I were working on our pieces. It is blatantly obvious this man who owns this business has no background in ceramics which is concerning not only for him and the unknowing employees but also for customers as pottery and ceramics are extremely detail oriented and the process can be extremely dangerous if not handled properly (I.e. handling chemicals with glazes, a number of the machinery involved, and the kilns alone which often fire up to 2000 degrees). **** was operating this studio under hazardous conditions. There were no respirators my the claymaking station, which means the staff is inhaling ceramic dust while at work. When we saw our fired pieces out the kiln, the shelves of the kiln are littered with remnants of previous pottery, meaning shards of sharp ceramic are adhered to the shelves because of a lack of maintaining. I believe this comes from his lack of individual experience in the medium because a member of his staff mentioned needing to get supplies to grind the shelves so this wouldn’t happen and they would efficiently unload kilns without harm. He ignored it and told them to unload it anyway. I firmly believe he is responsible for the conditions of the business and work environment and that should be addressed immediately.
However the staffing is incredible and wonderful with the public and are very knowledgeable. They must be underpaid and overwhelmed to work in those conditions
