On May 5, 2025 I purchased an "all-inclusive" online program for certification in Medical Coding from **** (Absolute Medical Coding Institute) for $4865. Prior to the transaction, I looked over the program, and read independent reviews. They all seemed good. I even chatted online with one of their "representatives." After the purchase however, I noticed that the website was not very user-friendly (even though I am quite computer-literate). There were loops that led nowhere helpful. There were missing initial courses. The "introduction of the staff" showed pictures - not of real people, but of charicatures. The lessons I tried to listen to were dumbed-down, slow, and certainly not of a caliber I would have thought for medical coding. (I have a masters in education as well as certification and background in Medical Technology.) When I tried to contact **** by phone, every option was met by "We're sorry, but the call volume is so high we are unable to answer your call right now. Please leave a message." I did so. I also left messages via email several times. The answers I received (only by email) were vague and did not help with my original questions. By the third day, I checked with the BBB, and they show that **** is APPARENTLY NO LONGER IN BUSINESS! So, who has been taking my money, responding to my emails (sort of), and maintaining a somewhat legible website? I have contacted my credit card company for help in getting my money refunded.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    Dear *******,

I understand that Absolute Medical Coding Institute did not respond (per the email I received from you).
However, they did refund the FULL amount charged to me after I lodged the complaint and spoke with them in person over the phone.
Although I would never do business with them again (the owner levied veiled threats against me, then smugly denied them), I consider the case closed, financially.
I appreciate the work that you and your Bureau do. You have clout and I am certain that having contacted you helped me get the refund I needed.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely,

    ********* K. ******

Requested refund. The material they are teaching is out of date and will not qualify for the program and exam they are advertising. This is a scam
