Please get a written contract from this business; he does not follow through with his promises very disappointed with outcome. My husband told him a budget that we was working with and he did not follow through with the project asked for a second bathroom and was told 2 months before moving in that we could not do the bathroom asked for a Bay window and he did not follow through; he put what he wanted in the house. He put used doors in our bedrooms and stated that they where new. I took pictures of everything that was done. My vanity was cracked and I asked him to contact the company he bought it from and he tells me he cannot replace it and say he can glue it; who does that when it is a new vanity. My husband and I paid him half the money up front then 2 months later paid another payment that was agreed on. Then before the project was finished he asked for another payment. Owner gets mad because he wants another payment and the job was not finished. We have pictures of his work and some of his work was unacceptable. He does not write up contracts and he wants to be paid in cash no cashier checks or paper trail of payment. He does not complete the projects. WARNING!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE investigate. This is a lesson learned for us we will not do business with anyone else without getting a contract in writing.

Oh how I wish you could post pictures on here. From the beginning,,,
After meeting with them, and realizing that it was 45 minutes from my house, and most of the jobs we had going on I stated to Mr. ********, that it would be a disservice to him to hire me as a contractor because the last thing I wanted to do was overpromise and under deliver. Because his project was so far away, I would not be able to spend the time on it that I would like. He called around a couple different contractors and called me back and stated. “ tanner, I feel like the good Lord put us together, and we are supposed to hire you to do the job.” I wanted nothing to do with the job because I knew what kind of budget They had and I knew that it was almost impossible to do let alone do it 45 minutes away occurring extra fuel cost. But I said that I would take on the job, but at no point in time could he get frustrated because of the timeline. I was more than upfront about. I was extremely busy and I did not know when I would be able to come and go.
Next, I’d like to address the fact that they said they paid me half the money upfront. That is so far from the truth it’s not even funny. I started the job and they didn’t even have everything worked out with their equity line of credit yet. I’ve got pictures on my phone in June where we demoed the entire house and removed the center wall to put in an LVL to open up the kitchen and living room. I literally just checked my email where I wrote her a receipt on 11/17/22! I’d say that’s far from upfront. Actually, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there’s no contractor in the world that would do that much work with no money upfront first..
Next I’ll address the bay window, this is honestly the first I’ve ever heard of a bay window. We did, however, at first have a wish list that they wanted to turn one of the bedrooms in the back into a second bathroom. Once again, working with a very restricted budget, I told him that that would be impossible because we had to occur some extra cost. The inspectors wanted us to put a pump system in the plumbing, which added about 1400 extra dollars in materials and labor that we did not account for. Oh, I’d like to also add that on top of all the demo and framing we did inside way before the first draw. One of the first things I did was replace all of the windows in the entire house with vinyl replacement windows, and wrap the outside with metal coil stock. But back to the bathroom it was just too much extra costs and I went over that with them several times and up until reading their review above. I thought they understood. I mean it’s pretty obvious when sheet rock starts going on the wall that there’s not another bathroom going in one of the previous bedrooms. If that was something that was written in stone, I would definitely Think that someone would bring that up. Or not to mention the fact that when we picked out flooring which I gave her samples and she picked out everything herself, she stated that she wanted carpet in all three bedrooms and LVP throughout the rest of the house. I have that text message. So , you specifically said three bedrooms? Once again, that would’ve been a great opportunity to bring up the fact that “hey, where’s our other bathroom”? So I don’t know the whole thing about that used doors? I’m assuming they were talking about the two unpainted doors that were in the first bedroom on the left closet which I have pictures of also. The reason they were unpainted is because someone had cracked one of the doors and I, being a good person that I am went out and bought two brand new $86 a piece closet doors and re-hung them. My painter was supposed to come on March 17, 2023 to paint those two doors the downstairs door, and two little trim pieces on the cabinets in the kitchen. I was told via text which I have from her husband to not worry about touching up any paint because the security system was installed and he did not want anyone else there. He said that he would get his friend who was going to paint the outside to do the other painting. Keep in mind that they got their certification of occupancy on March 16, 2023. Now they have the keys to the Kingdom and now the true colors are getting ready to show. So there was an outstanding balance on the bill that was to be collected after all the punchlist items were addressed. On March 19, a day that’s hard to forget because it’s my birthday. I got a not so great birthday present when her husband told me that all of a sudden they were disappointing and they thought they had paid enough upfront already, and was not going to pay their balance. To come pick up anything I had on the property it would be on the front porch. I am a licensed general contractor and have been doing this for over five years. In five years I have never had one issue with any homeowner whatsoever. I do hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work for insurance companies in Rockingham County every year and have never had one complaint, not one! Keep in mind that this was a permitted job.
Actually, March 16 when the inspector was out there from Stokes County he was asking for a piece of paper for an air quality test done on the new HVAC system and was using Mr. ********’s phone. The inspector, right in front of him said, “ really great work Mr. G******, very nice”. It’s just funny that the only person in five years that has ever not paid me is the only person that has ever wrote me a negative review. Oh I almost forgot the vanity. In text message in a group chat between me and her and her husband I stated that I would pay for a brand new vanity. It’s in the text. I don’t know why folks want to lie and try to hurt someone’s Business, source of income for their family, etc. I don’t know what you’re mad at, you’ve been nothing but nice to me throughout the whole project until it was time to pay. Everything I’ve stated above is 100% the truth, and I have documentation to prove it . If you don’t want to pay somebody that’s fine that’s on you, you have to sleep with that at night, but don’t try to hurt the way someone makes a living for their family. You have no idea what burdens someone’s family my have and what you could do financially to them all because you’re mad at what? You got all that work done and didn’t even pay the remaining balance. You’re the winner. I’m the one that did something that I did not want to even do from the beginning and got burned for it.
I’m just looking back through the text messages between myself and Mrs ******** the past few days all I see is me rushing to get everything done so that they could get there brand new refrigerators and dishwashers in microwaves installed by Lowe’s. We got everything done just in time and all I see is her saying please and thank you to me. Myself responding the same. Like I said, this whole job was nothing but kind and courteous communication between all parties involved. I just think it’s real funny that this review was written on 3 19 2023 and that was the exact day that they stated that they were not going to pay me any more money for the project and that is exactly 2 days after they got their certification of satisfaction from the permit department and the permission to live there.
I can’t stress enough this was a permanent job, and that it passed every inspection through Stokes County. We literally redid the entire inside of the house. I am a man of my word, I do not lie, and I have lots of integrity. I always, always do whatever I can to help someone out. Like I’ve stated plenty of times above before. In the five years I’ve been in business I’ve never had one person not pay me in the first person that does is the only person, ONLY PERSON to ever write a negative review about me.
I’m truly sorry that you feel this way about me and my company. I thought from the beginning you were kind people and understood that I was doing you all a huge favor doing all that work with in your budget restrictions. But I guess one family in five years is it bad? Even though I try my best, I guess I can’t please everyone. Bless all, be kind, and give thanks!
