Amarr's authorized distributor incorrectly charged me for Amarr warrantied items. Amarr refuses to work with their own distributor in order to rectify this issue.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/15/2023

It appears that there has been a miscommunication with the Amarr Authorized dealer in regard to warranting product.

Our distribution center in the area would be the entity that would communicate directly to the dealer and who would supply the dealer with the material.

The distribution center will reach out to the dealer and try and come to some sort of resolution.

This is still ongoing, but we will update once there is more information on a possible solution.

New house came equipped with new Amarr garage doors installed by local Amarr distributor. Doors immediately started rusting because they weren't treated properly. The rust goes all the way through and is already formed holes that I am patching with fabric. I contacted Amarr with a request to replace the door under warranty. Amarr denied the warranty claim because they blamed it on the environment. Their excuse is absurd for multiple reasons. First, if this model is so prone to corrosion due to the local environment, then it shouldn't be distributed by the local distributor. Second, neighbors with older doors of alternative brands do not have this issue. Third, local garage guy told me Amarr use to be a better brand however they changed ownership and subsequently cut corners in manufacturing to the extent the brand was causing so many complaints they were avoiding it all together. Last, upon examining the door up close you can see the metal wasn't treated properly and it is really thin cheap metal. They should have never sold this model anywhere, especially in *******. It is only fair they swap it out with a different model under warranty at no cost. I just want what is fair.

We appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns of the consumer and provide clarification on this matter.

Firstly, we would like to emphasize that Amarr Garage Doors is a manufacturer and wholesale distributor of garage doors and does not sell doors directly to consumers. Our products are distributed through a nationwide network of authorized dealers who are responsible for the sales, installation, warranty service and repairs.

Regarding this specific consumer complaint, they contacted Amarr on June 28, 2023, since that time, we have exchanged multiple emails to explain our position on the matter. We have explained to Mr. M**** that our product warranty does not cover surface rust on the door. (attached copy of Amarr’s product warranty).

As a manufacturer, we build our doors to withstand normal wear and tear. However, factors such as environmental conditions, moisture, a high salt atmosphere, or humidity can contribute to the formation of surface rust over time. We recommend regular cleaning, maintenance, and periodic inspections to prevent or address any rust-related concerns.

      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:

All they do is avoid responsibility. I don't see any warnings on the door that it shouldn't be sold in *******, never got any notice about a recall and it was sold by one of their local distributors. On the contrary there is a badge from Amarr on the door showing it was tested and approved specially for use in *******. Who paid for the test? These excuses are absolutely ridiculous. The door looks like it is almost soda can thin untreated metal. This door shouldn't be sold anywhere, not just *******. Amarr should replace it with another model under warranty.

Company never warrantied and replaced the garage door when it was first installed. Called the company several times and they are unwilling to replace the garage door. Now the windows are leaking, and the panels are leaking. Also, the lower panel is bowed and letting cold air in.

Amarr is a product manufacturer and does not perform installs, services, or repairs. This consumer purchased our product through one of our independent dealers. All product warranty claims are handled directly between our dealers and the consumer.

The consumer did file a warranty claim directly with Amarr in November of 2021 for issues with condensation. The said claim was denied. See attached regarding Amarr's Leak Proof Statement.

      Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:

I asked someone from Amarr to contact me and they didn't.  They have no intention of honoring any type of warranty claim.  They failed to honor the warranty from the very beginning.  When we were building our home the garage door came damaged in shipping and the door contractor (******** *****) put a warranty claim in and we never heard back from him or Amarr.  Plus now the owner of the garage door company and the original contractor that built our home are deceased.  The door panels and window were damaged from day one and there is now snow leaking in the door from the bows in the panels and the leaking windows.  The bottom panel is bowed and letting cold air in from the damage in transit plus a side note that the windows are leaking is most probably due to the original transit damage.  I think it is deplorable that they won't consider replacing the door in good faith knowing the circumstances that originated when the door was purchased.  They should be ashamed of themselves.

      **** *****

I ordered two doors from Amarr Garage Doors via ************* in July 2021. The doors were to be installed in October 2021. When the installers arrived, a panel for one of the doors was incorrect (the glass was on the wrong side of the door) and it had to be installed incorrectly (three glass panels on the right and one on the left) while ****** waited for the correct panel from Amarr. The replacement panel arrived with the glass on the correct side, but was the incorrect size. The installers had to cut down the door and connect it to the other panels with a bracket to make it work while they ordered a replacement panel again. At this point, several panels have been ordered and none have been correct. Now, almost a year later, I am still waiting on the correct garage door panel and proper installation.
