A couple of years ago I purchased a new t870 track loader from the bobcat dealer in ************* . First, my complaint does not concern the equipment, dealership, service manager or the service tech. The problem I have is with bobcat corporate. I had a drive belt break so I called the dealer and learned the belt was under warranty. They sent out a tech and he repaired the machine. This is where things went downhill. The tensione had frozen and had to be replaced. Because the tensions wheel was frozen the warranty was voided. To replace the belt and wheel I received a bill for $2,746.47(the parts were $230.95 of the bill). Confused about the amount of the bill the service manager explained that the type of repair determines the labor charged. This is a common practice but bobcat determines the time allotted. I was with the tech and became irritated when I saw that bobcat allotted ample time for driving to my place and making the repair. Then 3.8 hours was added for drive time. They also added a shop supply charge of $165.31. I inquired about it and was told it was for incidentals I pointed out there were no inchidentals and they corrected me because hand cleaner was used,The final insult was a charge of $560.00 for bringing out the service truck. I was told the usual charge is $1,500.00 but it was reduced because I was close by. Thank goodness for that or the belt would have cost me $3,700.00.Something is wrong with Bobcats service policy. There should be an effort to treat their customers fairly and not focus on extracting the greatest amount possible from them. I repeat this complaint is not aimed at the dealership but the policy makers at Bobcat.I like Bobcat equipment but this type of price gouging will make me buy elsewhere.
