My Storquest location in ********, ** had a leak above my unit which damaged a piece of inexpensive furniture and the company denied my request to reimburse me for it. Their rationale is that I have to use my homeowners insurance. This is such a scam for the amount of money that this company ********** is the jist of the outrageous behavior. The company requires that you have insurance to cover losses. They offer their own insurance, at $11/mo or if you prove that you have homeowners insurance, they will waive this nominal fee. Now, they have already jacked up my monthly rental price from what I believed I signed up for at $150/mo to ~$260/mo. The company doesn't tell you when you sign up for the rate you choose that within 3 months you will be paying ~$1200 to 1300 more a year. So they've already got this additional money out of me and they have had a leak which damaged my property and which is less than $200 to replace and they denied my claim. This assertion that I can go through my homeowners insurance is ridiculous because my deductible is more than this so it isn't worth filing a claim. The manager at the ******** Storquest location on *********** said to me "you made a choice when you decided to decline our insurance and go with your own. That choice means you are accountable for property damage." Maybe I'm naive but when I received the automated email that said that I will pay the extra $11/mo if I don't provide proof of homeowners insurance, I didn't interpret this to mean that the company wouldn't be responsible for a water leak in pipes above my unit. No fault of my own.Replacing my damaged property, at its very low cost of less than $200 is far better than a few bad online reviews in my opinion.
