      Our jet boat wouldn't start. They diagnosed it with $3000 worth of repairs. Offered to buy the "hull" for $1000. I didn't trust this. We got the boat repaired elsewhere for $1200. The problems they stated were completely wrong. The boat is starting well and we are enjoying it.

      this unit was a Sugar Sand Tango jet boat with a Mercury jet motor (Sugar Sand has not been in production since 2007). Unit previously brought in for service July 2018 due to hard starting issues. At that time we suggested carb rebuild but customer decided not to repair. When brought in again in July 2022 due to it not being run for several years and starter not engaging, customer was told again unit needed carb rebuild and fuel pump. There are a total of six carbs on this unit (three upper/three lower) - old fuel needed to be removed and suggested either a new oil injection pump or having unit switched to pre-mix. Customer was also informed that compression was little low (ranged from 132 to 145psi and should be around 160). Carb rebuild kits alone cost $456 not including labor. For all work we suggested, the total would have been $2655 which is extremely reasonable. Customer was never offered $1000 for the hull to my knowledge--- this unit is no longer in production and with the low compression probably would not want it.
