In mid Jan. of this year, we had them come out to repair a leak that was coming from our steeple, and we were billed about $800 which we paid. When they came out it was 30 below zero. The repair they made failed in April. They came out and attempted to repair the problem again at the end of April. 4 days later it rained, and the water leakage was worse than it was before they attempted to fix it. I tried several times to contact them about these issues without success. I had another roofing company that came out and inspected the steeple and found the prior repairs were not made properly. They fixed the roof and we have not had a leak since. I received a bill by email today and I called the billing department and explained that the repair they made did not fix the problem. She told me that even if thats the case we still have a bill with them. I feel that we don't owe a bill to them since they did not fix the leak and I have tried on more than one occasion to resolve this with them. It's common sense that if a service is given and it does not fix the problem it there should be nothing owed. We are already paid them for Jan for $800 for a repair they made that did not fix the problem. I would ask that this current bill be desolved.Business Response

Amount billed from company is not matching the work that was done to the home after a kitchen fire.
making do the best we can since that time.
Drywall has been replaced and I am sure other work was done,
but I don’t know what structural work still remains. I was advised to purchase
cabinets and countertops which are sitting uninstalled in my kitchen. My total
costs that day were over $5000. I do have receipts for that. My mortage company
released $40,000 to pay for the work being done. I was never advised of how
anything would work – what the processes were... I just did what they told me
as things went along. I learned after the fact that I should have kept receipts
for the prepared food we had to buy after we returned home, as we had no stove
or fridge. I did not know to keep gas receipts or how to monetize other
expenses I incurred. Service Master removed a lot of furniture from my home
citing smoke damage. This included all furniture from my bedroom, my sister’s
bedroom, the dining room, living room and all of our clothing, sheets,
blankets, curtains, they even took my partner’s shower chair out of the
bathroom – it was as if they just tossed everything we owned, including a
grandfather clock I valued and cultural items that were very valuable to me into
a truck and took it to their facility. My living room and bedroom furniture was eventually returned – other things
were returned sporadically – I was told that items were being held in inventory.
My grandfather clock was not returned. Our clothing, bedding, towels…were not
returned. My sister and I are Ponca Tribal elders and my partner is an enrolled
Omaha elder. We participate in a wide range of cultural activities. Precious
cultural items such as the handmade fans I use when I dance in Powwows – these
were returned all crushed in a Box. These are sacred items and should not have
been handled at all. I did not know that the procedure included taking
everything out of my home. Had I known, I would have taken all cultural items
and items of sentimental value with me to the hotel. I took pictures of the
damage and sent them to Service Master, who said they would make things right –
nothing ever came of that. Other items of sentimental value were tossed into a
box and returned with some things broken such as a picture frame holding a
picture of my partner’s mother.
I cannot tell you how shocked I was to receive a $13,000
bill from Service Master. I sent it on to the insurance company. Mr. ***** informed me that they had been paid. Service Master denies having been paid. I
don’t know where that stands at all. I contacted my insurance provider with all
my concerns, he offered no support – he said he has worked with these companies
for over 20 years without any complaints.
McKiness contacted me and said I had to pay $5500.00 for
drywall work. ******* ******* from McKiness is the person I talk with. I paid
them that amount. Then he told me I had to pay an additional $40.000 for work
already completed. He informed me that they would do no more work until they
were paid the $40,000 and then there would be an additional charge for
finishing up installing the cabinets, countertops and light fixtures. I was
never provided with an itemized statement of work completed or advised of what
total costs would be.
I do not have enough funds left to pay McKinnis $40,000. In
addition to other costs incurred, I bought all new kitchen appliances which
have no place to be installed. My mortgage company still holds $14,000 of the
insurance money – they will release that money after inspection is completed.
Even if I have enough to pay McKinnis, which I do not, I do not have money to
pay additional costs for the rest of the work. My insurance agent has turned on
me – he said I need to pay McKinnis the $40,000 when there isn’t that much left
after all expenses related to replacing what was lost + costs incurred due to
having not having a kitchen and being displaced. So here I sit, over three
months later, without a kitchen and not enough money to finish paying for the job.
I feel that I have been taken advantage of as an elder and
as a Native American. My insurance agent and my mortgage company should have
been on my side making sure I understood my rights and what the processes and
procedures were.Business Response

I bought my house in December of 2021 with the understanding of the house having a new roof. When ***** had a hail storm in the beginning of summer I had a roofer come out for an estimate. The roofer informed me I needed a new roof because the wood is warped. I contacted my realtor about the issue and she confirmed the roof was replaced by McKinnis. When I contacted McKinnis they confirmed the roof was replaced in 2020 for the previous owner. The previous owner has since passed away. McKinnis would not provide us with the contract or provide a resolution. We are also suspicious that permits were not pulled for original service in 2020, therefore we are requesting those records. We are also requesting the contract with the previous owner and Mckinnis, and a complete new roof with a third party evaluation of services or a full refund that the pervious owner paid plus any additional costs for the roof to be replaced by a company of our choice.Business Response

This person is not a customer of ours and they wanted a contract from the previous owner / the previous owner's contract. This is not in our business practice to share contracts and other people's personal information that we don't have permission to share. Per our records - the permit was pulled and we have records of this. We would be more than happy to stand behind our work, but we haven't had the chance to inspect the roof or been asked.
