    ***** *****, the owner of Quality Deck Staining, arrived approximately 7:30am on Wednesday, April 26th to give an estimate for power washing and staining the deck. He spent several minutes looking over the deck and then went to sit in his truck to write up the estimate. He came back to the deck and explained how he would power wash and stain the deck. I asked when he would be doing the work and he said “within three weeks, give or take a few days” but he could not give an exact date because the weather plays a factor in when it can be done. He gave a $75.00 discount on the quote for giving him the $400.00 deposit in cash. $1660.00 would be due when the work was completed. I asked if employees would be doing the work and should I give the remaining payment to them at that time, and he said no, he would be there too, and would take the payment at job completion. After ***** took the $400.00 cash deposit I never saw or heard from him again. He does not answer the phone and keeps his voicemail box full and does not respond to email. I would like the return in full of my $400.00 deposit. I asked for that via text message and email but never received a reply.

    I will be sending this customer a full refund of the deposit. Ever since covid, its been  very challenging in the contractor world. Ive been in business since 1998 and never had a complaint until covid started. Im a small company and can not find good help. I apologize for the delay. My voicemail gets full every day as i am a small company and can not answer my phone all day. I would never get work done if i did. Again, i am very sorry to this customer, and will mail a deposit full refund. I do understand, my customers work very hard for their money.

    Better Business Bureau:

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
    However I am skeptical ***** ***** of Quality Deck Staining will follow through with his statement of returning my $400.00 deposit. 
    I would like to know when he will be returning the money - what day does he plan to mail the check? I do not want him to leave me hanging again.
