    Terrible Service and smell at Boarder’s Inn & Suites - 4/12/25

    Our stay at Boarder’s Hotel for a 70th birthday celebration was deeply disappointing. Despite booking accommodations months in advance, the block of rooms assigned to us reeked of sewer odor. Hotel staff admitted this was a known issue caused by flushing the public restroom, yet our group, traveling from several states, was placed there anyway. This oversight disrupted our plans, forcing us to move rooms throughout the hotel.

    To worsen matters, one group member’s Expedia reservation (paid $225 on 3/28/25) wasn't found in the hotel’s system. Despite providing proof of payment and Expedia confirming the reservation, the manager, Pam Wright, refused to honor it. After 2 hours of dealing with it all, besides paying full price for another room, Pam Wright REFUSED to offer any resolution. She also refused to provide contact information for her supervisor. Only after paying full price for another room did the front desk employee later inform us—at 11pm—that Expedia would process a refund for their transaction. It is incomprehensible why the hotel couldn’t acknowledge the PREPAID reservation, accommodate our guest, and handle reimbursement from Expedia internally. Pam Wright refused to take any responsibility or make amends.

    This wasn’t about the cost but the lack of professionalism and accountability towards paying customers as well as the lost time with our family. What should have been a joyous occasion was marred by avoidable issues and terrible customer service. After 20 years of making trips to Fonner, this was the first and will be last time that we stay at Boarders.
