I hired ***** for Radon Mitigation installation. I found his company through the BBB and he said he was licensed. ***** could not provide the second round testing and we hired another company to come do the test. They informed us that our mitigation system was not up to code and was installed incorrectly. I paid ***** $1050 for this service
    - Not installed near the sewer line
    - Fan was not strong enough.
    - Fan life is 5 years, the installed fan was 4.5 years old.
    - Power strip, which got very hot, was installed on a wooden/flammable surface
    - Vent cover was incorrect and would ice over in winter.
I hired A to Z to take out and redo the Radon system. I paid them $938.58 for this service and paid ****** **** *********** $125 for the follow up radon testing.
***** was reported to the state and they are currently investigating him as they stated he does not have a business license and is not qualified for this installation.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/21/2025

I ***** ******** in response to *** ********** complaint is not accurate. I received a call from *** about needing radon mitigation within a week since they were selling there house. I took the job and worked on a Saturday to complete the mitigation portion of it. I informed *** that I let my radon measurement license lapse since I had no business in the last four years concerning the measurement portion of radon. She knew upfront that I would not be doing that part of it. The system was installed correctly and the radon fan reading on the manometer was 3.7 which meant the fan was pulling a lot of radon from this suction point. ***'s radon test initial test reading was over 14 pCi and after was 7 pCi. I called *** and wanted to seal the pipes that were used as braces to keep the walls from bowing which I did during the blizzard. Her reading was still a little beyond the standard threshhold of 4pCi. after the test and I wanted to install a second suction point to get this reading below 4pCi but *** called back and said they were taking a different route. The radon reading of over 14pCi is very high and I told *** after installing the first suction point I might need another - she was fine with seeing if the one suction point would be sufficient. The fan I installed was purchased from a reputable radon supplier and was more than adequate to pull the radon from this smaller home. My license to practice radon mitigation is valid since I just renewed it this year DHHS said I needed a license for my company as well which I was totally unaware of. I'm currently getting this matter resolved. I'm more than capable of doing radon mitigation the radon reading in our basement was over 17pCi and is currently at 1.3pCi using the same principles I was taught when taking my exam to get certified. I passed this exam and was even asked by the National instructor to allow him to use a method I used in our home to get such a low reading in his curriculum. I know I was unfairly targeted and this makes running a business where your trying to always be above reproach difficult. I'm a God fearing man who claims cash to the IRS so to be smeared like this is awful.

I am rejecting this response because: ***** is not being honest and forthright. Any information about license lapse was shared AFTER he provided the initial service. I was informed by the home inspection company that the radon installed would not be sufficient to close on the home, so I was forced to hire another service. They explained that this was not only because of the reading, but because of errors in the actual installation of the mitigation system. Please see the DHHS report attached that explains the numerous issues with the system. In addition to those issues, due to his lapsed license his work was not allowable under the sale contract. Had I known he was not licensed to perform such work I would have found someone who was. I was aware that the work required a licensed radon installer. LeAnn Norquist from DHHS informed me that ***** is not licensed in Nebraska for such work. Much like a doctor may have a medical degree, but cannot perform medicine without being licensed through a hospital, ***** may have the knowledge to do the work but is lacking the actual paperwork to practice.

***** was fraudulent and owes me a refund. I have an excellent case and significant supporting documentation to take this to court. I did not want to put either of us through that, but if ***** is not willing to make to this right, I will pursue next steps in this situation.

    Sincerely,
