Our general contractor, Carlson Projects, hired Mark's Plumbing as the subcontractor on our basement remodel. There was no end to the incompetence. They took three different tries to get the floor drain installed in the laundry room. They sawed through my brand new wall tile, which was not necessary, to install the utility sink. Now there is a noticeable hole in the tile that didn't need to be there. The PVC pipes under the utility sink fell off (seriously, just fell off when I turned the water on) twice. A third time, something wasn't attached right and I had my plumber secure it. The faucet ended up too close to the sink so if you turn the water on at a higher velocity, it splashes out of the sink. The PVC pipes elsewhere in the project were not glued together as evidenced by the lack of the purple primer. The ensuing leak ruined the ceiling drywall in the new bathroom and the new office. The general contractor got someone to fix it but one can tell it was patched. I hired my own plumber to fix that mess and he said he'd never seen anything like it. The shower tiles were not caulked and water seeped underneath the tiles and the shower got all squishy. I'm not sure if that was also Mark's fault or the tiler's fault. More than two years later, I have been waiting to see what new disaster awaits. I got a call out of the blue from the city inspection office and they said the permits were never "closed out." Additionally, the gas line to the new fireplace was not permitted at all! Mark's did the gas line but apparently did not file the proper permit? Or maybe that was Carlson. They sent inspectors, and today they found a gas leak that has been there, presumably for the last two years. This has been an ongoing debacle! Thank goodness for Dworak's plumbing for cleaning up the mess and the inspectors for finding the gas leak before it resulted in disaster. Do not let Mark's plumbing inside your house.
