On 9/30/2022 I stopped in to get 4 ton of crushed concrete loaded on my dump trailer. A guy went out to get me loaded as I wrote out check and paid for my load. I then left building and hopped in my pickup and while leaving i look in rear view mirror and noticed that one of my tires had fallen off. I got out of my pickup and walked back to trailer noticing that the tire had separated from the axle. I then went inside to complain where they came out and took pictures. He said looked like axle may have been cracked and told me trailer wasnt built heavy enough for my load. Trailer has two 6000lbs axles and I've been in there before and hauled this amount with no problems. Ended up dumping load and left trailer there Said hed turn into manager and he'd be calling me the following Monday. I went in on saturday and got my trailer taking it to welding shop. They told me clearly snapped off from loading to fast and other axle looks bent also. Anyway Monday came no call from manager So called them on Tuesday and talked to manager Went on telling me pictures looked like it was possibly cracked before. Said that kid that loaded me he didnt believe would have loaded me without trickling load into trailer. Went on telling him funny it broke on your lot and told him welding shop told me it was snapped by dumping to fast. Told me again hed talk to someone higher up and see what they would do. Have not heard from nobody. There Simply not wanting to take responsibility for there ***** **. Sweeping it under the rug.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/03/2022

Gerhold Concrete Company, an operating company of ************ ***********, strives to provide exceptional customer service in regard to all customer interactions. It is our position that the loading of product on a trailer owned by customer was done so at the direction of the customer. The amount of product purchased by customer was in alignment with the weight and capacity limits defined by the customer. Care was taken during the loading process to not overload the trailer. Two employees were present verifying the loading process and that no physical damage was present at the time of loading. The customer was not present while trailer was being loaded. The trailer axle failure occurred as customer was exiting the property. The customer immediately notified the local manager with multiple communications between the parties on the day of the event as well as on the following Saturday and Monday regarding the status of the trailer repair. Our position remains that care was taken during the loading of product on customer's trailer according to the quantity ordered. Acknowledging the trailer did experience an axle failure, we do not believe the customer's trailer damage was the direct result of product loaded in this event.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Tire fell off in exactly the same spot I got loaded. Tell me it was damaged while exiting is a complete ******* lie. Axle showed clean break. Firewood was loaded on this trailer and delivered to ******** two days prior with no problems and tires were on axle when I wheeled in there to load. Just a company not willing to take responsibility for damaging someone's property. Other guy did not see him load was sitting in cement truck inside loading bay area and pulled out when I was walking towards my truck. He told me tire fell off as I pulled ahead and was trying to get my attention to stop.Even asked if he saw the kid load my trailer and he said no. Simply someone taking there side to cover up or someone making up a good story of seeing it. Like I said company not wanting to take responsibility for there actions. I'm advising everyone I know needing rock to go somewhere else. ***** ***** *** loaded my trailer after being fixed with 6 ton of white rock and pulled 10 miles home with no problems.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I have submitted a bill for the cost of fixing my trailer. Little over $**** damage done. Told it would be submitted to there insurance. Have not heard anything back on what's taking place.
