Went through 3 brake pads and $1200 calipers trying to fix a grinding issue coming from a 2 year old Ridgeline. Kept being told by Gateway auto that something else needed to be replaced. Finally took it to a Honda dealership and they told me that the gateway brake pads were substandard, and that's why they kept grinding even after being replaced.

Needed a Timing Chain replaced on a Toyota..Sent me an emailed estimate of 2500 bucks. Then called me and said they had to replace a failed sprocket for another 500..and he said the other sprocket looked ok but it was recommended to do both sides.. To me this was a red flag. So I said just replace the failed sprocket..Called me and said the car was ready but now the hood would not latch. He asked if I wanted to have them replace the latch..I said no..I had just done some work on it and the latch was fine..So I got there and was inspecting the latch and found an engine bolt stuck in the latch..Also the antifreeze was low.He said his tech told him he lost a few bolts and said they didnt have any red antifreeze used by Toyotas..Red flag # 2..I drove it and it seemed ok.. So I paid them 2900 and left it there for my son to pick up..He got there about closing time and came to my house..He said the chain was rattling when he started it and continued as he drove it..This was Friday..So took it back Monday morning..He said dont worry, we got this 24 month guarantee..But I knew he would gaslight me about the part I didnt replace..He called and said he watched some technical videos and both sprockets had to be replaced..So after they did the repair wrong they researched how to do it right..Since it was my fault they would have to charge me for the labor..Wouldnt give me even a ballpark price to redo it..Not wanting to give them a blank check, I just went and got it..Asked to talk to the Boss..He of course was on vacation..guy said it didnt matter..His word was final..I dont think they would have repaired it right for whatever price..Why are they asking the customer what parts to replace? Also the emailed estimate is just a link and not a pdf so they can change it..Watch out for this business and their Tommy Boy guarantee..I got a $2900 lesson..Must be alot of trees in that area cause its very shady..
