    Better Business Bureau

I am a patient of Midwest Oral Surgery (MOS). In March 2025, while obtaining information related to dental procedures I wanted done, I received a quote. I met with the other Dentist, ****** **** ******** *** who would do the 2nd part of this procedure. I notified MOS that I would like to accept their quote. I was then informed that a line item had been missed, and my quote would be almost double. Having already invested substantial time and money, I felt I could not say "no". I had just paid ******* ** $3,765.00 to start things moving forward with her office.

Initial procedure was performed on April 10, 2025.

On June 19, 2025, I received an email from MOS stating I had a balance of $1,643.00 This was approximately 2 months after my initial procedure. This was after I had paid them $10,189.90 on April 10, 2025. This amount was supposed to be the last that I had to pay. I was never told why after 2 months I was being billed the additional $1,643.00. I left the company 2 voice messages regarding this charge but did not hear back from anyone. I grew concerned that if I did not pay, it would hold up the next step in the process which was scheduled for today, July 16, 2025. I paid the $1,643.00.

Today we completed the final process at MOS. The plan, as it had always been since April, was for me to immediately see the 2nd ******* ** after the MOS appointment. My wife and I drove to ******* ***s office only to be told that I did not have an appointment. MOS failed to coordinate and set up the 2nd appointment with Dentist AH. I now have to take another day off work, as does my wife.

I called MOS and spoke to the Billing Coordinator, *****. Nice lady, trained very well to protect the company and its revenue. That phone call is what prompted me to reach out to the BBB for review. I can supply supporting documentation upon request.

I believe my time and energy are important.

hank you for bringing this to our attention.

We take all concerns seriously and are committed to providing excellent care and service. Please note that we are bound by strict federal privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which limit our ability to respond publicly to complaints that may involve protected health information. We will  be reaching out directly to the patient.

We want to assure you that we are dedicated to resolving any concerns promptly and professionally.

It’s worth noting that the vast majority of concerns expressed by prospective patients tend to relate to insurance coverage and network status—matters that are entirely determined by the patient's insurance provider and beyond our control.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

I was referred to oral surgery January 4th and had a consultation January 19th. The total cost estimate was 3834. My treatment plan was broken down into 4 phases. I paid 768.64 on 2-16 for phase one, I paid 469.71 on 5-14 for phase 2.I paid 1288.78 on 6-6 for phase 3. They said it is done in four phases and gave me an estimated cost after insurance which was a total of 3834.63 On 10-27 patient coordinator ******* said I owe 4473.87 more if paid before 1-1 but if i waited until after 1-1 I would owe 2726. I called BCBS and found out no claim was filed until 10-7. They refused the claim because they neglected to file in a timely matter .BCBS told me they have a legal binding contract and can't charge members due to their negligence. The contracted document between you and the insurance company and provider specifically states that if the timely filing manner is not followed the provider is not due money from insurance company or patient. BCBS reached out to Midwest and left messages and let them know. No phone calls were returned. On the pt coordinators desk there is a sign saying we will do everything to file claims and cut out of pocket expenses . Everytime I asked about my health insurance coverage I got different answers. On 12-6 a rude women ***** called me at work and said Dr Andersen would give me a 20% discount and my balance would be 3600 more, I told ***** that BCBS told me not to pay due to their error.I kept trying to reach ** ******** and they would not let me talk to him. They even told me he would call me back. On 1/17 I talked to ****** a manager. She said there is no tooth. I had an impression done for it in November. ****** told me they wont treat me if I don't pay. I tried calling and mailing *** ******** to let him know that I was having some issues. No one would let me talk to him and I was even told he would call me back. They told my dentist I canx my appt and refuse to pay my bill. It is holding me back for more work.

I have been going back and forth with Midwest Oral Surgery on getting them to submit claims to my dental insurance providers Cigna and **** ******, they haven't been. I received letter from Cigna saying they had reached out to Midwest Oral Surgery for further info on a claim, they aren't responding to Cigna, **** ****** said Midwest Oral hasn't submitted any claims to them at all on my behalf, they are trying to get me to pay out of pocket and deal with trying to get reimbursed from my insurance companies, this is horrible customer service on their part.
