I told AEL to have them bring the arm switch with them on the first visit, but he did not. In the process of troubleshooting on the first visit on October 17th I believe the Technician Bryan damaged the main board. First, he shorted 24 Volts to the motor leads trying to get it to work. After that he said the brake was not detected so he unplugged the brake leads from the board and put a clip lead across the connections to the brake. When he turned it on the insulation melted on the clip lead. Next visit on October 29th Bryan brought a switch which made the unit come on but it would not work. He ordered the Main board which I had to prepay $462 for and when he returned on the third visit on November 6th with the new main board, he pointed out on the damaged board there were black marks on the bottom where the brake leads connect.
The total price if he had brought the switch the first time would have been about $307 including $150 labor and $30 trip charge and $116 for the switch part and tax. The bill for 3 trips and the main board and switch came to $1194. I don't mind $150 per hour labor because you must pay for experience. I am upset that he wasn't experienced and on the phone with the factory every time he came out and I am expected to pay for his mistakes.
Technician Bryan is also unapologetic and denies shorting the brake which I saw him do. There were no issues with the Stannah Siena 600 Stair Chair Lift before the switch failed and definitely no brake not detected alarm. Bryan no denies putting the clip lead across the brake output and he insulted me about being a retired Technical Engineer too. I was without the chair for almost a month from the time I contacted AEL.
Adam did the original install for us and he really knew what he was doing. Very disappointed in this experience and I would avoid this company at all cost.

Thank you for taking my call 12/6, you and I were able to resolve this issue before this review was posted to the site. I wish we could have solved it sooner, but no call or request was made to talk to management. As we discussed we do agree that our tech should have handled ordering the part differently. We did explain to him that he should have informed you that it isn’t a part we stock but would order it for you at your request, that would have saved a trip and some stress. We did credit you back two trips and the board. As for the steps our tech took in troubleshooting, it was all within the manufacturer’s recommendations. You also have my contact information and are free to call me if you have issues in the future.
