My York electric heat pump 2020
I have had numerous problems with my heat pump that sos installed. I have had at least 15 service calls on it since installed every 3-6 months It breaks down consistently. In December2024 I was having more issues I asked the service manager to get with York to see if any thing can be done with my York unit. He said he would get a hold of them
When It broke down again in February 2025 I ask for the service manager to see if he found anything out never did call me back So later that day I tried again and talked to him to see if York and them found anything out never thing out. Instantly he told me they never called him back after 2 months of patiently waiting. So I decided to mail a letter to the management team with photos of how my heat pump is patched together with electrical tape around a shut off over flow and cut off a metor probe end as a shim behind the main computer board of the unit to put pressure on it I sure wish I could post these photos to show you. I wonder where else my unit it patched together that I can’t see
In my letter and asked on the letter to have an upper management call me. I’m still waiting for the return call. To me not responding is like admitting guilt to a situation that they don’t want to deal with I’m sure they will keep trying to collect the $166. For my under warranty unit.
Before I pay the bill which I’m willing to do if they would call me back I just want a phone call about my issues. I wish they would stop hiding behind there problems and call me. About why these patches are like this.
I just want a correct fix no patches.

O stars. The worst company ever! Called them for a 99.00 check 6 months ago. A/C was leaking a small amount of water inside. Sent guy #1 to fix. He couldn't find any problems. A day later still leaking, called them again. Made sure I was not going to pay another $99 for them to come check. They said no charge. Guy #1 came out again. Couldn't find a problem but did put silicone over the screw where the water was leaking. 2 days later called again because it was still leaking. Again asked if they were going to charge $99. they said no again. Guy #2 comes out. Can't find a problem inside so goes out back to AC unit. Few minutes later I popped my head out the back door to see what was going on and he said my condenser coil was leaking. Warranty was out. Cost to replace would be around half of a new AC. Asked him to send someone out to quote. Then he said he put freon in it to get me by for a couple days. No one called to set up an appt for a quote until 2 weeks later. By that time I had 2 other companies come out and quote and had a new AC put in. THEN I got a bill for the 2 appts and freon. I NEVER authorized the freon, was never told what the cost of the freon would be. I thought he was just being nice. I have called them every month since August to fix this charge. Every month they have told me Greg would call me back. He NEVER did. Got a collection notice a couple days ago for something I never authorized, never discussed with him and never got an amount that I would be charged. BEWARE if you are elderly and on a limited budget. These guys will take advantage of you!

I purchased a geothermal 'ClimateMaster' system from SOS in 2014. I've had nothing but continuous problems; a bad sequencer board in 2019 along with a new heat kit. Had a SOS service check January 2023 and was told they could only check the heat not the air conditioning. Scheduled another service call with SOS for the air conditioner in April 2023. The SOS April technician said there was nothing wrong. Tried turning the air conditioner on in May 2023. It still did not work. Therefore, I called a different company who discovered the reversal valve is bad. He had to order parts and fittings from the factory which will take 5-6 business days. Warranty covers the reversal valve, but not the freon, fittings, or labor. Therefore, I'm now trying to endure 90° weather for 2-3 weeks due to the SOS technician not analysing the problem in April. I was evidently sold a defective system. Not a happy customer!!!

    Teresa,
I apologize for your issues with your ClimateMaster system, however, please understand that SOS Heating and Cooling installs the equipment and when it comes to mechanical failures it is not the fault of SOS Heating and Cooling's workmanship. We have been installing ClimateMaster systems for over 20 years and have had good luck with the quality of their equipment however, with all mechanicals systems there is the possibility of mechanical failures.
January 30, 2023 we performed a regular maintenance check and the system check out properly in the heating cycle. Since the Geothermal system does both heating and cooling usually if the system is operating in heating, the cooling side of the system should operate properly.
The second service call performed on April 17, 2023 check out the operation of the cooling cycle and at that point in time the system was operating properly.
On May 25 you called in for a service call which we scheduled for the 26th, but the service call was cancelled before we could perform the service call on the 26th.
The reversing valve is a mechanical device that switches the flow of the refrigerant to allow the system to both heat and cool depending on the system. The warranty statement as per ClimateMaster would cover the cost of the reversing valve but not the labor and freon if needed. If SOS would have performed the service call on the 26th and found that the reversing valve was bad, we would have had a charge to replace the reversing valve and unfortunately the reversing valve is not an easy job to replace.
I understand your frustration, but please understand that the frustration should be with ClimateMaster and not SOS Heating and Cooling. We back our workmanship and the issues you encountered was not due to the workmanship but a mechanical issue.
Please feel free to contact me is you have any further questions. Thank you for your understanding.

This is a review of SOS Heating and Cooling, but first let’s start with this. About three years ago while living in AZ I had my HVAC replaced with a YORK brand. After the install had been completed everything worked but I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of their work. They agreed with some of my concerns and returned twice…still not great but again it all worked. A year later the house next door also had the HVAC system replaced and used the same YORK product but this time had a different installation crew. I looked at this installation and although some things were better others were not. At this point and with two examples I concluded that this was simply the ‘industry standard’ for HVAC installations and let it go. Now living in Omaha I wanted to have my outdated HVAC system replaced. Having been pleased with the YORK brand I proceeded with it but had low expectations for how the installation would go. Here I could list many of the items that I felt were poorly done in AZ but that would take a lot more lines of text to simply say, SOS didn’t repeat any of the concerns that I had in AZ. Using words like great workmanship, exceeding quality, meeting expectation’s and customer satisfaction I realize can be considered personal taste and subjective but I can say this; I would not hesitate to recommend this company or to use them again if needed. Lastly, unlike AZ there was a requirement to have the equipment safety inspected by the utility company and this was done today, as expected; passed inspection.
