The Optical store inside the doctors office did not get my prescription correct when filling the doctors prescription for single vision computer lenses. They continually ordered bifocal lenses. It took me four times to get the correct prescription. This was after I was accused of being difficult to work with and was publicly shamed during my final visit when the office area had several other customers. The optician placed the wrong order the first time and with each time I came back to pick up the supposed corrected prescription, it was the same. I was told my order for single vision lenses was not a normal procedure. No one followed up to make sure each "re-do" was correct. No one accepted blame. Now they are attempting to send me additional billing for the glasses. I have requested a detail of charges against my Vision provider insurance company VSP. They said they cannot do that. I believe they are not correctly billing my account with the correct VSP High Coverage benefits. This is related to my visit on 9-30-24. My last conversation with the billing department was today, 12-31-24.

I have not received a reply from Advanced Family Eye care as of 1-16-25.  However; I have done further research with my insurance provider VSP.  It is confirmed via the Explanation of Benefits the vendor has overcharged me for my copay.  Additionally, they provided uncovered products and did not explain that the product was not covered to allow me a choice as the products were upgrades that are not medically required.  I believe this is an unethical business practice to increase their sales.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/29/2025

As a long-time patient, we hate to hear this, and we apologize for any confusion. It was our understanding that we had resolved your visual needs. The lenses ordered were identical to the lenses from the previous year. We filed a claim for benefits directly to your insurance provider, and they gave us an Explanation of Benefits for the lenses you ordered. Our contract with your insurance provider requires us to charge you all copays as listed on the Explanation of Benefits. We have provided you with corrected statements showing the applicable copays for your lenses and the outstanding balance on your account.
