      Our granddaughter and her wife used the Briley Team, a member of Berkshire Hathaway Real estate group and did not have a good experience as first time home buyers. I got involved as I had gifted them some of the down payment needed for the purchase....and because I had had multiple experiences buying and selling our own homes over the years. .....The realtors for both the buyer and the seller in this case seemed to us to be working for each other and not the buyer. First, the listing on the website was incorrect in multiple ways....the HOA fees were listed incorrectly for the condo our grandaughter was buying and only after her offer had been accepted, did they come back and tell us that the HOA fees were substantially higher than what was listed. While they did give us an adjustment for this error, it wasn't substantive. Second, they had listed the property as a townhouse, when the association by laws show it is a condo association. This caused an increase in insurance to the buyer as well. The buyer and seller agents, just sort of gave us an "oh well." Third, on the day of closing, they gave our granddaughter the wrong amount due for the closing...then after she had wired the amount they gave her, and paid for that wiring fee, they came back and said the amount was wrong and they needed more than $2,000 more! Fourth, part way thru the process of inspections and all, even though the property was listed as pending, they increased the selling price by $5,000 ...i guess so if our granddaughter backed out, they could then ask for more. They made the first time buying process much harder and emotionally and financially frustrating than it should have been. For being a part of a Berkshire Hathaway agency, I would have expected superior service, not this low level inaccurate process. I would never recommend the Briley Team for any further real estate sales or acquisitions. Shamefully inadequate.
