We had ***** out to give us a bid for a new foundation. During that time while he was out, he mentioned he was a general contractor and could do more than just the foundation.
My wife and I contacted him after the initial visit, to see if he would be interested in adjusting our entry doors, hanging two storm doors and installing a vent fan in the bathroom. He said those were things he could do and he’d shoot us a bid. He sent us a bid of $400 a day later. We accepted the price and planned for him to come out the following week.
We purchased all the supplies for the job to be completed.
The day work started, ***** was not here. They cut a giant hole in the bathroom ceiling, drywall dust and insulation was everywhere. They didn’t cover anything up, didn’t clean up afterwards. Put a big dent in the top of our dryer. They got the front storm door hung. They couldn’t finish the vent fan because the guys that were here couldn’t do the wiring. They didn’t adjust either entry door. That didn’t hang the back storm door. Saturday at 4 pm we got a text from ***** saying someone was on the way out. I tried calling to let him know we weren’t home. Couldn’t get ahold of him. That man hung the rear storm door. We called **** per the sticky note he left. He was to come back out Monday, never showed up. It’s been a lot of unanswered text messages and phone calls to *****.
They deny causing any damage to the dryer. We have a giant hole in the ceiling with a vent fan not connected. We have doors that aren’t adjusted. We have storm doors that aren’t adjusted.
Our next step is small claims court.

    Greetings ******

It is unfortunate that this incident happened the way it did. We tried to remediate with you every way possible. When we arrived, you were to have all material ready for us. You provided us with two screen doors that I think came from **** and were not assembled whatsoever. One of the doors was already in pieces and hardware in a bag. Next came the door situation. I understand the frustration that comes with us saying we would hang the doors and adjust the doors inside the house, but these doorways needed to be completely reframed for them to be properly installed. That is beyond what "adjusting a door is." Next came the fan. We vented it out of your soffit as requested and installed it exactly where you wanted it. We could not patch the ceiling because the necessary wiring wasn't there, as you said everything should connect. Next, you blamed us for the dryer. We arrived and the area for the fan was above a dryer, where you had piles of clothes on top of it, and a disaster around it. My employees took photos of the dryer with the DENT before they even started. I even shared the photos with you, and have timestamped photos, but you still claimed we did it. I have a time stamped photo of the dryer. You also arrived and were there watching them and also didn't say anything as they were working, ON TOP OF THE LADDER IN FRONT of the washer/dryer. The real issue occurred in my opinion, when I communicated that we would not be installing the doors without a change order to reframe them. Also, we were under the impression that the screen doors, were pre-hung screen doors. We installed one screen door after assembly. But that is to say the least. After you became angry with us, I offered to finish the EXHAUST FAN FOR FREE, which just needed a new wire ran and drywall installed around it. You then informed us that you did not want us to come (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO WITH TEXT) and would be handling this through "other channels."

So in essence, I tried to maintain a healthy relationship and offered free services to you to show our gratitude towards the opportunity to work on your project. I hope the best for you, and wish nothing but great things for you.

    Thanks,

    ***** *********

I was very clear about what we expected from ** *********. ** ********* put in a very low bid which we accepted. ** ********* however had other motivation. When ** ********* originally came to our property it was to bid a project. We intended to replace our foundation. I believe ** ********* put in a bid of $400 because he was hoping to get the much more lucrative contract to replace our foundation. We would have been happy to give him this contract if he hadn't sent 2 incompetent men to our house that accomplished nothing more then installing 1 storm door. Other then the door the only thing they accomplished was damaging our property. They left us with a front door that no longer latches, a gaping hole in our ceiling a vent fan that doesn't work, and a large dent in our dryer. On top of that I don't believe the men he sent to our house to install an electric vent van were certified electricians. If they are I'd love to see proof. After damaging my property ** ********* avoided me for 2 week before he responded to my text and phone calls.** *********'s foreman took responsibility for the damage to our dryer and I quote "I will handle this myself".

** ********* made it sound as though he was given cheap materials. We purchased the doors from ******* and he was told one had previously been installed. All of the parts were made available to his employees to install the door properly. As for his claim about the door frames being out of square im not sure how he can make that determination since he was never at my property during the project. And his employees never placed a square or a level on the door frames.i have proof of this on security cameras. ** ********* placed the $400 bid blind he never came to my property to look at the project or the materials I wanted installed. No professional would do that. ** ********* is a liar. He breached our agreement. I have the text messages to prove it. I have security camera footage of his employees in my house. His employees took a picture of the dent the put in my dryer 3 hours after they started work. If they were concerned about being blamed for this why didn't the take a picture before they stated. It all stinks. I still may take him to small claims court.
