On or about September 9, 2022, I called Midwest Plumbing to schedule an appointment to replace a toilet seal because the water was leaking into the tenant's basements in an adjacent rental I own. (We own a duplex at **** ***** **** ******* ****** **). I spoke with someone and explained what I saw as the problem, and requested a plumber. She scheduled one for the next day, September 10, 2022. After some customer service issues on arrival, a person showed up, looked at the broken stool, and the leak in the basement, and acknowledged it looked like a seal problem. He then proceeded to snake the toilet, which was not the problem. Then he took it apart (removed the base from the floor) and indicated it looked like the seal or something at the bottom related to the seal.

I asked him to fix it or replace it. His response was, "You need to call for a plumber," I am not a plumber.". He said I am only able to "snake," and you need to call a plumber and tell the tenants not to use the bathroom. He advised me to call his company on Monday to have them send a plumber.

I did not call them on Monday. I called a different company, and they fixed the toilet and seal in less than a few hours. Midwest Plumbing charged for the service call $******, and at one point, I played phone tag with someone from the company. I explained the situation via voice mail. I am not paying for the wrong service. I am not paying them, and the second company I had to call. Midwest performed an unnecessary service and charged for parts. I was told to call a plumber -what more can I say _I did another company as the representative of Midwest did not know what he was doing.
