Ok! I know see why more than one person has warned others about ***** gerber! About a few weeks ago I decided to my car into a car shop to get the power steering pump fixed. So the garage tells me a rack and pinion as well. Instead of a phone call they send me an email and the whole price total was not even on the email. I figure ok 2 things fixed shouldn’t be that bad! I get another email a day or so later and UNIQUE SHOP! tells me 4500! Mind you the car I had from ***** was 2006 Pontiac grand am! 250,000 miles. So I try to get the shop to drop that price they go from 4500 to 3100 but still it’s out of control! I know they were scamming me! So I told the ***** ****** across the street who sold me the car what was going on!! And he agreed with me. He said the only thing that I could do was pay or get the spare key with my ID as long as I bring back the key. ***** to mention I was in between living arrangements and I quite my job because I was getting harassed! So everything I had was in that car! So my mother’s boyfriend knows **** who owns the auto shop! So I told them I will have my moms boyfriend call him to make arrangements. Because like I said my whole life was in that car! My lively hood! I would mostly stay in my car until I could level up in life! So here I am going about my life and 6 days later. I come out and my car was gone! So I calls ***** and I called unique shop! And I was getting toyed with about we’re the car was. Unique auto the JUST LAUGHING ABOUT IT! SMH! I finally call up to police station and they tell me ***** ****** towed it away. So I called them back and now they finally say oh yeah the car was reported STOLEN! Well you would think what I called me who is making payments on it to verify if it was stolen, but instead, they team up with unique across the street and I feel like I was being tag team and the worst part about all this is I said you know what I don’t care about the car I just wanna get my stuff out of it and you have to pay $350

      Case # ********

      **** *******

Dear BBB, This is in response to the above case. On December 13th 2023, *** ******* purchased a vehicle from us on an installment sales contract. Sometime in June of 2024, she took her car to a local area car repair shop by the name of Unique Auto Repair to have repairs done. On Thursday June 20th 2024, she came to our main business office and informed us that she had either "lost" or "misplaced" her keys to the car and asked to borrow our set from us. She left us a piece of ID and was supposed to go and get her car and bring the car and our set of keys right back to us so that we could help her get a set of new keys to her car. We learned the next day on June 21st 2024 after a call from Unique Auto Repair that *** ******* apparently used our set of keys to drive off with her car from Unique Auto Repair without paying for what was supposed to have been a $3000 to $4,000 auto repair bill that she owed. She did not bring the car  nor our keys back and she has not paid Unique Auto Repair for the repairs that they made to her car. Unique Auto filed a report with the Omaha Police Department for the theft of "Unpaid Services". The detectives from OPD confiscated the keys to the car from Unique Auto that *** ******* had originally left with the car for repair. Because of the legalities of  her driving off without her paying Unique Auto, and the and the fear that the Omaha Police Department might be looking to impound the car over the situation, we decided that the contract was in jeopardy and had the car brought in for safe keeping on June 25th 2024. If she wants any possessions  we can arrange for one of the detectives that have been involved in this case from OPD to meet her here to retrieve them.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ******, Owner

      ***** ****** Auto Sales Inc.

I got a call about my insurance on my vehicle around 4pm December 7th and after trying to find a reasonable resolution with the business my phone died and not even 30 minutes later they came to my home and took my vehicle and when I contacted them they told me I would not only have to gain the full coverage insurance they require but I would also have to pay a $*** fee for the inconvenience of the tow and I asked why after speaking to me they didn't try to contact the other owner on the title and they just reintegrated that they would not wave the fee

In regards to this matter, Ms. ****** was a "co-buyer" with another person that signed a contract to purchase a vehicle from us. At the time of purchase, she signed a statement that said, "I agree to provide full coverage insurance on my vehicle. In the event that I do not keep continuous full coverage, my vehicle will be subject to repossession. If repossessed, all costs incurred in the repossession will be my responsibility which could meet or exceed $***.". The fee in this case was lowered to $***.

Our clerk says that when reached by phone that Ms. ******* that "liability" is all she needed and then hung up. As it turns out, the other co-buyer on the contract took care of any fee or payment due and re-instated the full coverage insurance and retrieved the vehicle from us. The signed agreement at time of sale was that full coverage insurance must remain in force or that the vehicle would be subject to repossession and fees. We don't like to repossess anyone's vehicle, but there is little that we can do when someone owes in excess of $****** and does not have their vehicle protected with insurance. We cannot take that kind of loss.

We decline to issue any refund of the fee that was charged in this matter and suggest that as per the original agreement at the time of purchase, that the owners of this vehicle maintain the full coverage insurance that was agreed to and that it be kept in force to avoid any other incidents like this.

      Thank you.
