      We moved into our new home with Gerkin windows back in November 2021. Unfortunately, right from the start, we noticed that our kids rooms, which are on the northwest side of the house, were very cold. Of course, this is normal in the midwest, but on really cold nights, sometimes it would get down to 57-59 degrees when the thermostat was set at 70. After trying to figure things out and feeling around the windows, I noticed that if the wind was blowing pretty good, you could feel a breeze coming through on each side of the corners of the sashes. Double hung windows obviously aren't going to perfect that in that area, but after looking closer, I could actually see on most of the windows throughout the house up to an 1/8 inch gap through the weather stripping.. no wonder a slight freezing cold breeze is coming in. We ended up finally getting a rep from Gerkin to come look at the windows, and he said that they were installed correctly, there were no issues with the windows themselves, and he didn't see any of those 1/8 gaps that I sent him pictures of. I wish I could upload the pictures of the gaps and videos of a lighter flame getting blown out by the wind coming through. The only other thing the Gerkin rep said is that over time this product can "come into its own and correct minor imperfections.” Another winter later and the windows are still the same. 1/8 inch gaps and wind strong enough to blow out a flame aren't "minor imperfections" and 57 degrees in my son and daughters room when the rest of the house is set at 70 isn't normal either. Side note: We have had insulation looked at as well and that is all good and not an issue. I have reached out again and still have not heard back yet from Gerkin. It is unfortunate, because I am sure that most of the window is quality, but I think a small fix such as thicker weatherstripping on this would definitely help solve an issue that I feel should have been solved a long time ago and still needs to be solved soon.
