My husband and I booked this venue for our wedding for August 24, 2024. We sent a $2000 deposit check and contract to the venue on 9/15/2023 to secure the date. My husband came down with a long-term illness and we emailed the event planner at the venue on 11/7/2023 to cancel the wedding. In that email, I requested the $2000 deposit back due to it being a medical issue and received an email back stating if they sell our date we can receive the deposit back per "****" the owner. In the same email it was stated that they would contact us if they sell the date. Many months went by, we checked in with the event planner in March 2024 and were told the date still hasn't been sold. August 24, 2024 came around and we hadn't heard anything. We decided to drive by the venue on that date and found that they in fact DID resell the date to another couple and did not tell us. We took videos and pictures with time stamps for proof. We emailed the event planner on August 26, 2024 that we found out there was a wedding and requested the $2000 deposit back as promised. The event planner responded on August 27, ************************************************************************************ the afternoon. A week went by and we contacted again, and were told the check would be in the mail within a week. On 9/18/24 we were told it was waiting for approval from **** and the check would be in the mail in 1-2 days. On 10/5/24 we reached out again because we hadn't received the check and on 10/6/24 was told the check is in the mail. On 10/15/24 I emailed again because we hadn't received the check still. Event planner responded on 10/16/24 and stated she was meeting with **** in the morning and would get back to us ASAP. She has not contacted us again. I sent emails on 10/17/24, 10/25/24, and today 11/1/24 with no response. We have been deceived and lied to and they are withholding money promised to us.Desired resolution is to receive our $2000 back as promised.
