On 9/6/22 a deposit was submitted to Matthew D. Levreault Painting in the amount of $1763 via Venmo to retain his services to paint our house trim and stain our decks. A contract was signed and the work was guaranteed to be completed in the fall of 2022, or “first on the list for 2023.” I understand and am aware we’ve had a rainy summer, but he’s never even attempted to get the job started. In July, 2023 I requested cancellation of the job and return of the deposit. Matt assured me he wanted to do the work and that I would hear from him within 14 days. On 9/11/23 we again requested cancellation of the job and return of the deposit. After six days, voicemail and text messages later, we finally heard back from him and he said he would return the money by 9/18/23 or 9/19/23. Again, on 9/22/23 he said he would return the money, nothing yet. I just want my deposit returned!

This complaint is true to a point. In 2022 I did receive a deposit in the amount of $1763.00 For services to be rendered regarding painting Mrs. *****'s home. I did say it was late in the season and we would try to accommodate her for that fall season or place her first on the books for the 2023 season. This season, there were no firsts for exterior. It was rainy and humid for such a period of time I had not completed any exteriors and stayed interior. In July, I explained that the weather was not consistently dry enough to start exterior at that point and would make sure we got it completed this year. In August , her husband sent an email asking for the deposit back. I replied with I have a reputation to uhold and will complete the service by seasons end or he would get his money back. He agreed. In Sept. Mrs. ***** decided that the painting season was over. I had scheduled her for 2 weeks out seeing the weather had started to improve. she asked for the money back the way she sent it via Venmo payment. I use Venmo as a for of payment for all of my jobs as well as payroll for my painters. At that time it was at its spending limit of 4000.00. I explained and told her that I will send it as soon as payment reset. In the meantime, Mrs ***** blasted me on Facebook marketplace sites and used the name scammer. I messaged her right away, told her I ve never had this accusation and it was tearing my business apart. She said she d take down the post when she received her money. I agreed to pay it by that weds at 5pm. I returned her deposit via venmo at 1 15 pm via venmo with an apology for the hold up. Mrs ***** never removed the post and continued to post rude things and accusations of people I did the same too. Which were lies and would not share their names. I had one other person who decided not to wait, sent me an email saying shed like her deposit back and we could do next spring. Other than that there has been no other people so, whoever is sending her emails is stoking the fire with false information she is playing into. I have since retained a lawyer. I understand Mrs *****'s frustrations. I have since returned the deposit and made this right. Since her actions of using the word scammer, I have had a perfect rating on 70 plus reviews on my Face book business page over 5 years deteriorate because people I do not know or haven't ever worked for placed bad reviews about my business. This was not just about her receiving her deposit back.

    Better Business Bureau:

Matthew D.Levreault Painting did finally return my deposit, but only after repeatedly requesting it from July 2023 until he returned it in September 2023. I believe he only did so because I turned to social media, which was out of desperation. I had attempted email, phone and text messaging requests prior to the social media and he just kept assuring me he would return the money, but then wouldn’t. I updated my social media with updates that he had finally returned the money, but continue to be updated by other people that they too are waiting for their deposits. Matt is only telling partial truths about his business, and I find it highly unlikely he will pursue legal action since he is the dishonest person.

    Sincerely,
