I had my 2007 Jeep Commander serviced for rusted rocker panels. I went to Phil at Rustorama in Derry NH on *** ********** ****, and he gave me a quote of $1500 to fix the issues because my mechanic would not pass the vehicle for inspection without this job done. Phil had my car for a week while I was on vacation, and when I called him to see if it was ready he said yes. This was on Saturday, July 15, 2023. My husband and I went to pick up the car and Phil said his credit card machine isn't working so I can only take CASH. We went to the bank and got the cash and picked up the car. A few weeks later I had an issue with my wheel bearing, so I took my Jeep back to the mechanic. I asked the mechanic to please check out the job that rustorama did because I want to make sure the vehicle is going to pass inspection. My mechanic said he cannot pass the car for inspection because Phil did 1/4 of the job. There are still numerous holes and rust areas and all he did was spray paint the areas. My husband was there and my mechanic showed him all the areas that were not repaired and the small area that was. I went back to Phil and told him what the mechanic said, and I said that he was paid cash and he didn't do the job he said he would. He got all flustered and said I got what I paid for. I had told Phil that I was extremely unhappy and that I would make sure that my friends don't use him for rust repair. He said he didn't care because he is too busy anyway!! I was and still am furious. On August 11, 2023, I get a text from Phil: "Hello (my name) this is Phil at rustorama. Can you call me in reference to your rocker panels. Maybe we can get these straightened out for you. Thank you Phil". I now put this in the hands of my husband, who called Phil and set up a day the following week to come in after closing, put the car on the lift and show Phil what the mechanic showed him. Phil accused our mechanic of taking a hammer to the job he did and created these holes. My husband said I was right there. All he did was scrape an area that was spray painted and all the rust came through. Again, Phil got all "crazy" waving his hands and telling my husband we got what we paid for, that he could have easily charged more!!! He said to bring the car back and for $600 he will fix the issues. My husband said we already paid you cash and we are not going to pay $600 to get this fixed. My husband offered him $300 and he said okay. The issue with all of this is that Phil never put the car on the lift when he first gave me a quote for the job, or when my husband went back to show him what the mechanic saw. All he did was lay under the car and made his assumption from there. My husband said we need the car to pass inspection so we can get at least another year out of it. Do you have a guy who will pass it? Phil said he did. There is no way we were going to pay even $300 for Phil to do the job he was originally suppose to do so we didn't set up another appointment because to be honest, I don't trust Phil or his work. I am lodging this complaint because someone needs to be aware of how this guy scammed me. I believe because I am a female, he discriminated against me and he took full advantage of me and figured I don't know anything and this will be an easy money in his pocket. I can only hope that this complaint gets to the correct person and something is done about this business and the shady business practices. Thank you for your time. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
