I hired My Handyman to paint the trim around the stairs, the house entryway, and around the dining room. I also wanted a piece of quarter-round put in near the kitchen floor, where the wood meets the tile. I was given a quote of $420, with $710 on the high end if things got expensive.
The work was okay. However, they put latex paint directly over oil paint. There was no sanding or primer, so there’s a good chance it will all come off once it gets humid.
The workman asked me to sign some work orders. Just a signature box. No explanation, just a work order. Like an idiot, I signed it without fully knowing it being told what it was.
They destroyed the wallpaper in the dining room, all the way around. The workman initially made light of it, as if it was funny. It will have to be painted or repapered.
My Handyman charged me $1,755 for the work, almost four times the estimate — two and a half times over the high-end estimate. It is a clear case of fraudulent inducement and negligence.
The owners seemed remorseful and willing to set things right. However, they are not eager to actually DO it, always “thinking about it” for weeks and months on end. This is a fly-by-night organization that seems to be betting they can get more money than customers are willing to spend in small claims court. Not recommended.

I had an appointment for them to give me an estimate on floor work and door repairs. The employee (who was nice) showed up and took measurements. Said he could not give me an estimate yet, because still needed to get prices of doors. I asked for a break down of costs with the estimate, in case I wanted to pursue one project at a time. He then told me it was a $100 for him to come out. This cost was never explained when scheduling the appointment. I was very put off by this surprise. Then they never followed up with an estimate. I had to follow up. I got an email that just said "it's $2200-3300 and that doesn't include materials". I pushed back that I was absolutely led to believe that materials would be included in this estimate and it would be broken down. I asked for a refund on the $100 service fee since the service of an estimate wasn't even provided properly. They denied my refund. Not to mention that the cost of labor (not even materials) to put quarter round on my floor was more than the cost of me having my entire kitchen floor laid down from another company.
