    I was billed for a Medicare Wellness physical vs my annual hands on physical and appealed the charge of $438 when the claim was denied. My position was why would I show up at the medical office if I was looking for Medicare wellness which is done digitally. Their position stands because, in my confusion, I signed an ABN. No other logic needed.

    Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has researched the complaint submitted by **** *********.
    On May 11, 2023, the patient signed an Advance Beneficiary Notice of non-coverage (ABN) agreeing to payment for a physical exam if Medicare does not cover services. This signed document is available in the medical record. The patient subsequently received documented services of and was billed to insurance for a physical exam. Due to this information, the patient is responsible for the remaining patient balance.
    Thank you for this opportunity to provide clarification on this billing concern.
