    I was a renter and kept an impeccable apartment. I was charged the vast majority of my $2000 deposit upon move out. I patched the holes but was told that they had to repaint the entire apartment to blend and for labor costs. Out of $2000, I received $588. They did not provide the promised storage included in the rent as it was under construction the full year. I hung the gear that would have been in the entry closet instead. Very one sided and unfair deal. I am happy to pay for the paint that would cover the drywall, not the hidden fees or labor. That should be on the rental company who did not fulfill their end.

    Where our management team has had extensive communication with this reviewer, I will respond for the benefit of our customers with whom we are proud to support:The above review focuses on two complaints, which I will address independently:1st- The subject apartment is located in a new community where storage is provided free of charge to the residents as an amenity included with their lease agreement. The storage spaces average 4'x5' (+/-20 SF), and notably, the dividers were not constructed at the time the lease started. When it became clear that the timeline for installation of the dividers was fluid, the property manager taped off and labeled the individual floor spaces for the residents to use for personal storage. While the spaces were not divided by walls, the residents did have use of the storage space. (Note, the dividers were subsequently installed during the residency of the reviewer)2nd- The Security Deposit deductions included $115 for cleaning, $98.86 due for quarterly water/sewer usage, and $1,200 for painting. The actual invoice for the painting was $1,500, which included materials and labor. The property owner discounted the charge to the resident by $300...The subject rental unit was brand new when the resident moved in. Under these circumstances, it is our policy to allow for up to 4 hours of reconditioning time for unit turnovers to account for reasonable wear and tear & cleaning. Where our current labor rate for general maintenance and cleaning is $65/hour, a 4-hour credit equates to $260.I empathize with our community as our region's housing costs are very high. I also empathize with this property owner and others who are at the mercy of a very challenging labor market. The root issue with this complaint is the high cost of labor for which our management company is doing the best we can to manage...I respect the reviewer's frustration and hope this response clarifies our management team's approach to challenging situations such as this.
