I'm getting a message on my Volvo 2017 S60 regarding on call service. I don't want or need this and te on;ly way to make the mesage go away is to pay a dealer almost $900.00 no one ever mentioned this when I bought the car over 3 years ago

I spoke with Mr *******.  He is frustrated that **** has stopped using 3g which his car has and allows the car to contact Volvo on Call by pushing a button.  He told me that he doesn't need that feature and he just wants the message that shows up to turn off.   When he called our service department the other day he was told that the only way to ensure it doesn't come back on is to replace the modem with an upgraded one.  The cost is @$900.  I told him that the next time he is in the area to stop by and I will have a technician see if he can stop that message from reappearing but I can't promise.   He was happy with that and understands that it is not anything that the dealership did or know was going to happen when he bought the car, Volvo did send all customers letters explaining this months before this was going to occur.
