We paid this business to paint a back deck for us. We gave them a check in the mail of half. The check didn't come in time to get materials, so they asked for a Venmo also. We gave a Venmo and said don't deposit check until completion. The business kept procrastinating the start date. Until we realized they also cashed the check we said not to cash. Once we confronted them about cashing the check and not having started the job on any of the agreed upon dates they stopped responding to us. We have lost 2,000 and haven't had any work done or the business reach back out to us. We've reported to the police as well.

Alicia H*** agreed to wash and paint the exterior of my home back in April 2023. She told me she would schedule me for the work for the first week in July, and asked for a 50% deposit. I paid this by ***** transfer, and she sent me confirmation that it was received on her signed invoice. The first week of July came and went. I contacted her on the 13th and asked when she was planning to start. She said she would be there on Saturday the 22nd. I contacted her a few days before to confirm she was still coming. She responded and said yes. Saturday and Sunday came and went. I sent her a text on Monday the 24th in the AM and again in the PM. No response. Then on Tuesday I get a long winded response saying she was sick and in the hospital and just charged her phone and got released. She said she would rest a few days and be there on Saturday, possibly Friday if she has time. Assured me it would be done quickly. Once again, she never showed up. I texted her on Wednesday the 30th asking what was going on, she was supposed to be there over the weekend, never showed up, never called. I received no response. I have tried to reach her multiple times since then, told her I needed to hire someone else to get it done, and needed my deposit back. She did not respond. Told her I would report her to the police, better business bureau, state of NH and VT consumer protection, and post reviews about her. Still no response. On August 4th, literally about 20 minutes after filing a consumer complaint with the state of NH online, I received a convoluted text from her saying she was basically on the run from her husband, and hadn’t been able to call me, but could come do the job the next week. I responded that when I didn’t hear back, I hired someone else to do the job. And stated again, that she needed to return my money. Then she once again stopped responding. This woman is an unreliable thief. She took $1325 of my money and took off.
