I contracted a gravestone memorial monument (for both me and my wife) with Laconia Monument Company on August 30, 2023, after my wifes passing. The agreement was to deliver and install a monument by late Fall of 2023. I deposited 1/3 of the total cost of the monument ($1150.00) up front as requested to get started, with agreement that two more balances of 1/3 cost increments be paid as progress proceeded of (1) my approval with sign-off on a monument proof and (2) final installation of monument at designated cemetery. Since then, very little progress and communications have occurred although I provided design inputs of my initial thoughts and preferences primarily through emails since phone calls were never returned. The 2023 monument proof never occurred and subsequently the delivery date was not met. The only thing done in 2023 was that a cement slab was poured initially as a footing for the monument.I have been trying to make contact with Laconia Monument to get together on finalizing the design of the gravestone and have left multiple phone messages, detailed email (January 23, 2024) with no response. Finally, several incomplete piece-meal proofs were received on Feb 13, 2024, which were not acceptable for me to sign off-on. I was expecting to see the whole picture of the monument coming together and go over details of the inscription lettering (font carvings) and review edited images (main portrait and laser etched imaging inserts). I phoned and emailed them again (email dated March 21, 2024) expressing my dissatisfaction with no response.I have never experienced such total disregard of business practices and ethics. This transaction has been totally unacceptable and emotionally draining. On April 25, 2024, I cancelled the order via email and made other arrangements. Taking into account the concrete footing installed much earlier at the grave site and my original deposit of $1150.00, I demand and expect a prorated refund of my initial deposit.

I am the executor of my mothers estate; ***************************, who is buried in the ************************. She died May 18, 2023 and I have been in correspondence with this company to produce a date ribbon since July 2023. After numerous calls the work still has not been done and they no longer answer my calls and do not respond to email. The estate will close in two months and I would like the work to be completed as promised prior to then. They quoted $300

My parents bought head stones from the Laconia Monument Co. back in 2000. Their names and year of birth were engraved at that time, with the agreement that the year of death would be engraved at the appropriate time. When my father died in 2016 this was done with no problem. My mother died MAY 2023. I would call week after week with no resolution to when the work would be completed, just excuses about the weather and such. They refused to give me the engravers name or number so I could discuss with him. Finally in September I hired another local engraver to complete the work. He tells me that he gets at least 3 calls per day with people whose work is incomplete from LMC. I think this is disgraceful. He completed the work in a week or two. This cost me $150.00 which I want refunded to me. I had emailed LMC and told them this is what I wanted, and they never responded.
