I went in for a fractured hand in June this year. I didn't receive notice of my denied *** until after I got a bill from the brace supplier in July. I was in contact with my insurance on what I needed to do to submit an appeal on the denied claim and that it would take 60 days for a decision to be made. I submitted in August and did not get a response until the end of October. But I was sent a letter from Benuck & Rainey before I my appeal was decided with insurance. B&R has been nothing but rude, condescending and unhelpful. They refuse to listen, talk over you and think that overcharging people on medical equipment is acceptable and even try to justify the gross cost markup by saying they themselves have had to pay the same amounts for similar equipment. A complaint is being filed against the provider as well because they have handled this equally as bad, if not worse at the current moment. However, neither company has done the right thing because all they care about is scamming people out of money with a 1500% markup on medical euipment.Business Response

Ms. ******** filed the same complaint with the ************************************ yesterday, in which we replied the following:
Breg was notified of Anthem BCBS denial on 6/25/24 as the equipment is not covered under your plan; four months of allowing you the opportunity to file an appeal with your insurance is a standard amount of time. The order for this was placed by your provider so you should have had the discussion with your provider directly as to who to purchase from and at what cost. The debt remains valid.

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because: That is a lousy, unacceptable response. They can't even be bothered to write out a response but rather just copy and paste the same BS response from a different complaint.

I've reviewed the conversation of November 12th with our office; we were not rude or condescending. The fact remains the product was bought from Breg, and we have no control over pricing nor do we have any control over how long your insurance company took to review your appeal. Your invoice became past due and Breg forwarded it to us for collections. You were offered a settlement of $252 to resolve the $315 invoice and that is sincerely the best we can do to settle the matter.Customer Answer

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because: I don't know how much more of an explanation I can provide. Of course a collections agency will say their employees weren't rude or condescending on a phone call. Gaslighting and taking advantage of others is what they're best at.

So at what point do you start showing bad ratings for companies like Benuck & Rainey? As far I can tell you don't do justice to the scam artists that they are by showing they have a good rating. I know I'm not the only one to get copy/paste responses from them everywhere but they somehow still maintain good ratings with the BBB? Make it make sense.Initial Complaint

On 7/30/2024 a debit in the amount of $100 was taken from my Fathers account to which I am a co-owner. Plus another $5 in pending on the same date. I contacted my father and asked if he approved this charge and he said no. He has no idea who these people are and why they are removing money from his account. I know they didn't get permission from him as my father is deaf and blind so that wouldn't be possible. They have no right to remove money from his account unless they can prove that they have a court order to do so on a debt that my father ****. Put the money back immediately and do not charge my fathers account again without a judgement for a debt he owes. We do not know the account, we have never gotten any mailings for a debt. If a woman by the name of ********************************* or ********************************* owe this debt they are not on that account and they do not have permission to be using money from that account.Business Response

We spoke to ****, the patient on July 30th at 4:25pm regarding a balance with Exeter Hospital. He authorized a $100 payment to be processed that same day and asked that we process $100 on the 5th of each month beginning August 5th until the balance is paid in full. I attempted to upload the recorded phone conversation, but this site doesn't accept the type of file. If you wish for me to email it to you, please provide an email address and I will gladly do so. They called me. Ask me if it’s me when I ask what the matter is about they won’t tell me I checked my credit report I don’t owe anything I’ve never taken out a loan a mortgage a loan I have three credit cards. None of them owe money. Don’t know whst this is about. But I will not confirm personal information without them telling me.Business Response

The law requires we confirm the identity of the individual before we can disclose the information on the debt. Mr. **** refused to confirm the 2nd means of identification we needed so we could not proceed with the call. There is a valid debt in this office; he needs to call us at 1-888-697-5566 and confirm his identity, we will then disclose the information. He is correct, it is not yet on his credit file so he would not find the information there.

This debt was settled in July of 2022 and we reported it to Transunion as such. If your report is still showing this to be an active file, then you must alert the credit bureaus that the information on your report is incorrect so they can correct it.

I recieved a letter from Benuck & Rainey. The letter wasn't mailed to my house. It was mailed to my employer. For this reason it took over a month to make it's way to me. Letter states I owe $106.50 between 9/23/22 and the date on the letter 02/02/23. This is the first I have been aware of ANY outstanding balances and due to my letter being mailed to the incorrect address, I now am past their date of 3/18/23 to dispute or even inquire the name of the original creditor.Business Response
