      I am writing to express my outrage at what appears to be highly excessive pricing in the provision of durable medical equipment by Ortho Care to insured patients.
      I broke my ankle and was provided with an Aircast walking boot by medical staff at urgent care. I later received a bill from OrthoCare for over $375.00. The exact same boot is available elsewhere (including shipping and taxes) for less than $100.00. I cannot imagine that OrthoCare would pay any more than this amount for wholesale purchases of this boot.
      For that reason I must assume they have decided to overcharge and exploit patients at a moment of extreme vulnerability - for excessive profit.
      When I called OrthoCare today to question this charge, they were unable to adequately explain the price differential, and referred me back to my insurer (who had referred me to them in the first place).
      I then tried to determine the name of a CEO/senior leader to whom I could raise this issue. However none was listed on their website, which is why I have had to make my complaint in this more public forum.
      I would welcome an explanation of their pricing, if one exists. In the absence of one, I can only judge such practices to be unacceptable and reprehensible.
      OrthoCare should be held accountable for these shameful business practices, and medical staff and providers (and/or patients) should be made aware that working with them will result in being significantly overcharged.

      I have had a very negative experience with this business. I had a prescription for orthopedic stockings. I had two prescriptions . When I asked the sales person for my prescriptions she refused to return them to me. Meanwhile the support stockings arrived I picked them up brought them home. When I attempted to put them on I could not get my foot in the nylon support stocking. Consequently I returned them to Ortho Care Medical Equipment. I was told they do not accept returns. I explained that I could not get my foot into the stocking. Too Bad for me. I called my insurance company and asked that they not pay the claim. If I have to go to court so be it.

      experience. The compression gradient can be difficult to get the stockings on
      especially if you do not have help at home.  Our OrthoCare clinical staff suggested and offered for you to have us
      fit the stockings multiple times and you declined this service.  OrthoCare also verbally and in writing
      provided you with our policy on returns and unfortunately for health reasons
      the medical products cannot be returned outside of manufacture defect.



      OrthoCare
      will mail you a copy of your prescription.
