    Gas purchased at this merchant’s pump put hold for $250 for a less than $90 purchase. It is outrageous that this merchant has this discretion ability to over hold and cause funds to be depleted on credit card limit. No other gas station does this! IMO it should be illegal Then when confronted the employee denied it was them and blamed credit card company. I confirmed with credit card company that this is a blatant lie!

    Dear Whoever it may concern,

    Pre-authorization is used to verify that a customer has enough funds available to cover a specific transaction before that transaction is completed. Pre-authorization is set due to current high gas prices and for the larger cars/trucks who need to fill their trucks with $250-$300. Once the final transaction amount is known, the merchant will complete the transaction for the correct amount. The pre-authorization hold is then replaced with the actual charge. Please note not all cards hold the same amount, we have noticed that only the discover card is holding $250 pre-authorization where **** or C**** **** is holding only 100$. We understand that this process can sometimes lead to confusion, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused to ******* **** We have contacted our credit card processing company and ********(company for pumps and software that use in-store and at the pump) to find out what we can do to ease things for customers which will lead to less confusion.
