    We contracted with the business to frame and make weather tight an addition. We started having problems with the work being done in January/February and began conveying that to the owner, Max Hudson. There was work being done that was sub standard and/or incorrect and we tried to get those corrected. During that time the contractor refused to discuss anything with me and would only speak with my wife. In late February and explained to her he needed a payment of $10,000.00 in order to continue because he didn't have enough money to pay his workers. We had already paid $36,000.00 towards an agreed upon price of 45-50,000.00. The $36,000.00 paid to date was more than enough to make us current. Unfortunately my wife gave him the additional $10,000.00 so they would continue to work. He came back to the job for one day then left. She attempted top get him back to work and/or have a meeting to discuss the rest of the work needed and when it would be completed. He told her a number of times he was coming by to meet with her but never showed. Eventually he stopped returning his called and answering emails. We have continued the work doing what we could and hiring additional contractors for specific work. We have found, as did other contracters and the building inspector, a number of potentially dangerous conditions, as well as other mistakes made, that needed to be corrected. At this point, we are only looking to recover the last payment of $10,000.00 which we believe he purposely lied/mislead my wife, knowing he was planning to walk off the job. We are hopeful that this complaint will be registered on your site so other potential customers will not run into the same problems.
