The property management company that my landlord contracts through is responsible for maintaining the property in which I live on. They allowed a company to come in in a beat lead from my property without notifying me or giving me the required documents. My daughter has tested positive for high lead exposure. She is a premature infant who weighs only 8 lbs. 10 oz. at six months old. after notifying our property manager of the illegal practices that had been going on during the abatement. The property manager did not come and evaluate the hazardous waste that I sent him photos of, nor did he stop the company from continuing to improperly remove the lead paint. We notified him again that the lead paint had not been removed from the ground, and then our daughter had tested positive for elevated levels. He still did not come out and check the property to assure that it was safe and habitable, the lead paint is still all over the property. Our daughter is now needing extra medical care because of the negligence of our property manager, we pay him $1500 per month to live at our property. We attempted to pay him our previous months rent late and he is now stating that we need to pay the entirety of last month and last months rent to avoid an addiction despite us having the legal right to withhold Julys until the property is cleaned up. I would like to help find resolution in order to find a different place to live as this place is no longer safe for our children .

      Business Response

Hi *********, we are very sorry you feel this way. The exterior painting work you are referring to began on July 8th, 2024. We were notified of this issue on July 11th, 2024. After which, the exterior painting work was halted and has not since been resumed. Your porch is the only portion of the house that remains to be painted. We have been instructed by multiple agencies, including yourself, to halt work on the house. Therefore there is currently no way for us to remedy this issue. Furthermore, the rent you have failed to pay to date was all due prior to when this painting work happened, with the exception August 2024. You owe $5,665.12 in back rent, late fees, and legal fees associated with your eviction - $4,160 of which was due well before any of this painting work began. Due to your inability to cooperate with us to date, there is nothing we can do to help you further. I would suggest that if you do not feel safe that you vacate the premises. If you had worked with us directly and been a bit more reasonable about your multiple missed rent payments, we could have worked something out and at least got you your security deposit back. I wish you the best moving forward.
