After more than 20 years of supporting and highly recommending Tokyo Joes I’m sad to say I cannot recommend them at all anymore. I put my daughter through the Tokyo Joes system all the way to black belt. Recently I enrolled my adopted grandson. When i let them know he was struggling they promised to help him out and never did. Then they paired him against a junior blackbelt even though he was a beginner that ended up with my grandson in the bathroom crying with a bloody face. Then grandmaster cheated me financially. After recommending them to everyone for 20 plus years I never thought they would hurt a child and cheat a parent. I feel like such a fool for believing in them. Please don’t let them do this to you or your kids.

yes, I received a threatening message from Tokyo Joes Studios of self defence and I'm certainly not satisfied.  Like I said initially I believed in and said nothing but really great things about this company for over 20 years.  I dont know what has happened to them but it's become a serious situation especially for children.  In recent time I sat across the desk from the owner and was lied to and mislead, then cheated out of money.  This is completely unacceptable considering all the money I have paid these folks over the years.  I have now been threatened by a Karate Grand Master which I take very seriously.  Most importantly, a child has been physically and mentally hurt by them and instead of trying to help the child they seem more concerned about trying to cover it up.  They've been around long enough to understand the the effects of childhood trauma and that it has serious effects on the child well into adulthood and possibly for the rest of the childs life.  I have too wonder how many children they have traumatized over the years?  I'm sure everyone would agree that this is unacceptable and somehow this has to stop.  Whoever thought it was a good idea to throw a junior black belt in a ring with a beginner should not be left responsable for children and their safety.  They must have or certainly should have known it was like throwing Pee Wee Herman in a ring with Mike Tyson and that it wouldnt end well.  In this case my child was sent running to the restroom crying with a very bloody face. No one even went with him to help him a responsable person would help and provide assistance to an injured child, I guess they didnt care. The situation scared and traumatized my child so bad he didnt want to return to karate anymore.  My child lives with that truama every day now.  No child should ever have this happen to them in a business space that's supposed to be a safe space.  I have to wonder why this happened?  was my child being used for their entertainment?  If not then why? I made a large investment in these folks that all went up in smoke that evening when they did this to him and then for them to cheat me financially, threaten me, and leave a child that looked up to them traumatized is a really bad situation.  How many other kids will be seriously hurt becuase of Tokyo Joes?  How many other parents will be cheated?  How many other parents will see their large investment disappear by their negligence and non caring?  I need to find out what government agencies and Karate associations regulates Karate dojo's so I can tell this story far and wide in an effort to save other children from being traumatized like my child.
