    My car was towed to this facility after an accident, I was instructed by my insurance company to pay Rich auto body to take the vehicle out of storage and I went and contacted the Rich auto body and i was told they wanted only cash payments, i offered debit, credit, certified check or business check and the guy said no, ****************** contacted them and he was told the something and **** auto body hang up on him. I dont know how the *********** allows this business to operate under a cash policy, i feel that the reason i am treated this way is because i am Mexican as i know a white person that was on a similar situation, and he was able to pay them with a debit card. Please find a way to resolve my issue and i hope no future customer people goes thru this. Thanks.

    On February 16th, 2024 Richs Auto Body was dispatched by the *********************************** for motor vehicle accident at third and Ridge Avenue.

    On February 21st the owner ******************************* arrived at our shop to sign a release form as her insurance company instructed her to release the vehicle to State Farm so they could transport the vehicle to another location. We explained our policy of cash only payment to be accepted on all vehicles towed to our shop must be made before the vehicle leaves our lot.

    On February 23rd a tow truck arrived at our facility to pick up the vehicle with no payment. The driver left the shop. The owner ******************************* arrived shortly after to pay the charges accrued.  At this point we advised her again of a cash only policy on all towed vehicles. State ********************** then called asking why we do not accept any other forms of payment. We explained several times to the representative we do not work with their company to accept their check and or credit card over the phone and as our policy is cash only upon pick up of all tows.  After being harassed for several minutes we hung up the phone. The owner then paid us in full cash payment. The tow truck came back and picked up the vehicle in the same day.

    We do not discriminate individual customers as our written policy clearly states cash only on all vehicles towed into our shop.  A personal check may have insufficient funds and a credit card can be disputed by the owner and reversed.  Please note we did not repair this vehicle. It was towed to our shop due to a motor vehicle accident non-drivable and picked up be another tow carrier for transport. 

    We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused as we always educate our customers the best way possible for each situation. This is the first complaint received after 42 years in business.
