I am filing this complaint due to highly unethical and unprofessional conduct by Modern Family Law in ******, ***I received an inflated invoice for legal services before any action had been taken on my behalf. Despite my frustration, I paid it in full. Shortly after, I sent a written notice terminating the firm due to concerns over billing and lack of meaningful progress.Shockingly, very quickly after receiving that notice, the firm proceeded to file documents on my behalfwithout my consent and after being expressly told their services were no longer needed. This was a clear violation of client instructions and professional standards.Throughout the engagement, communication was poor. My questions and concerns were routinely ignored or inadequately addressed. Their priorities appeared to lie more in billing than in representation.I believe their conduct demonstrates a serious lack of transparency, respect for client autonomy, and ethical integrity. This experience has been distressing and left me feeling exploited by those I trusted to act in my best interest.I request that this complaint be formally recorded on the firms BBB profile. I urge the Bureau to consider investigating their billing practices and conduct. To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment with ***********. I used your platform to find an attorney to represent me in an important legal matter. I was contacted by someone who claimed to be a licensed lawyer. He assured me he could handle everythingappear in court, file paperwork, and resolve my case. Based on that, I trusted him and sent him money to take care of the matter.What I later found out was shocking**this individual was not a lawyer at all**. He had stolen another attorneys identity to pose as a legal professional. The real lawyer eventually reached out to me, confused, asking why I was contacting him when I was never his client. Thats when I realized I had been completely scammed by someone impersonating a lawyer on your site.Because of this, my case was never handled. I now have a **default judgment against me**, simply because I believed my case was in the hands of a licensed professionalsomeone I found through your platform. *********** did **nothing to verify** this persons credentials or identity. This is a serious breach of responsibility and has caused me significant harm.I trusted *********** as a safe and reliable source for finding legitimate legal help. That trust has been shattered. Your failure to vet individuals advertising as lawyers directly enabled this fraud. I demand a full investigation and a clear explanation of how this was allowed to happen. Our system at Lawyer.com is based exclusively on verified state bar attorney data. We do not create or upload attorney profiles independently—only attorneys listed with their respective state bars are included in our directory.
The attorney whose identity was impersonated, is not part of our referral system. He was not one of the attorneys contacted through our platform in connection with your request. In fact, the email address used in this scam does not appear anywhere in our system and does not correspond to a valid listing with Lawyer.com.
We only presented you with four licensed attorneys in response to your inquiry. During our call, I shared their names again with you for reference and to help confirm the legitimate responses you received through our service. None of those lawyers were the name mentioned or with the firm mentioned.
Additionally, the information indicating that you were seeking legal help came from a third-party lead generation service, not directly from Lawyer.com. You submitted your legal need to that company, and they then passed your request along to us. It's important to note that this third-party provider does not work with us exclusively, and unfortunately, we cannot control or verify what happens outside of the Lawyer.com ecosystem. As discussed, I also provided you with the name of that third-party company for full transparency.

When hiring the attorney he set a meeting in the office to retain my case and when I arrived at the office his assistant advised me he was in court and will call to schedule a in person meet to go over the case before court after 6 weeks of calling for the meeting the schedule another meet where I drove from hemet ca to ********* ca just for him to be unavailable not calling before court and for 30 court hearings he kept continuing the hearing which was in *********** ca and driving there just for it to be rescheduled the attorney blocked my number and refuse to address any of the abuse and neglect that was happening to my children and allowing my children to sleep at the police station 2x waiting for **** never turned in any of the documents I gave him for my case plan for my childrenBusiness Response

I joined Lawyers.com for several reasons, When i was asked about the banking laws that Mastercard is bound to, It was flagged as inappropriate. So I re-worded and removed any reference to MasterCard, got the same response. When asked about getting a Will, same response, lets say every question got the same email response. lawyer.com has no way to unsubscribe from its contacts or remove my information from its system. I cannot reach a human representative on the phone and have used three different contact numbers in my attempts and I have followed the steps provided in their email communications to unsubscribe but they do not monitor their inbox.
