I hired Seapoint Solar to install PV system at my house and agreed upon Solaria XT 400 Panels and Enphase 7 inverters in July of 2020. This was duly signed as a formal contract with the purchase price of $27,361.00 (all cash) for a 10 KwH system based on my energy consumption as reported over the past 1 year of usage from the utility company. Instead of installing the agreed upon panels the owner ********************************* installed the Solaria XT 360 modules and Solar Edge inverters without my knowledge. The system was put in service June of 2021. This resulted in a system size of **** KwH being installed at my house which is not meeting my energy consumption needs. The only way I was able to find out about it was when my township sent me the official design with the specifics in the mail. After being confronted about and threat of being reported to NJ AG's office the owner ***** promised in October of ********************************************************************* the official contract. It has been now almost over a year and I have been getting the run around regarding this system upgrade with one excuse after another while I'm still getting a monthly utility bill from my electric company of $130-140 on an average. Due to personal health issues that I was dealing with around *********** of this year and recovery period thereafter I was unable to file this complaint in the 12 month window.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/16/2022

This complain is completely personal as I have filed a lawsuit against his best fiend for theft of roof shingles, over $3000 worth including a ladder as well as a non payment mechanics lien I. Excess of $12,000.

Mr. ***** contract called for us to install Solaria  panels with an Enphase system. At the time of installation the Enphase inverters were not available, we install solar edge inverters and informed ************ that we could liter replace and install the Enphase. After installation he asked us to do so, we went out to his house ro remove the SolarEdge and install the Enphase inverters, one day later he asked us to switch them back to the original solar edge inverters. All of this is in writing and in am email and was confirmed and authorized by the homeowner.

The homeowner, after we installed solar panels, had two Tesla car chargers installed which increases energy consumption by nearly **** kWh. The previous system was only designed to offset his previous usage of around ****** kW, it did not take into account a Tesla charger since they were installed after the solar system.  I offered to add panels to his system, panels which were left over from a previous job so we decided that we would give those to the homeowner if the utility company would authorize us to add on to the current system.

Keep in mind these panels were free, I was charging the homeowner for labor only, we told him that Id be happy to add onto his system if the utility company would authorize. The homeowner has been CCed on all correspondence with the utility, there has been months of back-and-forth with utility trying to get their authorization.*********** has been involved in every step of the process, in fact two weeks ago he thanked my office for their diligence and hard-working in dealing with utility. My office has spent hundreds of hours, weve spent thousands of dollars on engineering just to help this homeowner add panels to his system. Keep in mind the original system was designed and engineered to produce around ******kwh, which it has!!!

just to reiterate the customers usage increased after the solar was installed because of two Tesla car chargers that he install, he fails to make this notation in his email to you. please ask him about this matter as he reached out to Tesla to verify that each car charger draws between **** and **** kWh per charger. That is the reason why is energy consumption has increased, this has nothing to do with a system under performing rather this  it has  to do with his overall energy consumption increasing due to products that were added onto his house after solar was installed.

I have to be honest, I find it sad, this homeowner has been involved in every email correspondence with my office and the utility, we have been working diligently to try and help this customer add panels to a system. A system that was properly engineered and install two years ago. Again his increase in energy consumption is due to his car chargers, a point he fails to make in his complaint

my office would be happy to provide any and all documentation, including his emails thanking us for all of our hard work, and email we received no more than two weeks ago. Again this complaint is completely personal as I recently filed a mechanics lien against his best friend for nonpayment Im also assuming that person in court for theft.
