    I had a medical bill from ***************. They went bankrupt and were subsumed by the ****************** medical complex. I didnt receive any information about my bill for like a year and then all of a sudden this random bill comes with no information attached to it from *************** which no longer exists. I called the number and I asked questions and thought- okay Ill just keep making the payments, but it felt incredibly sketchy. Especially because they never said the name of the company they were working for and for a bill pay service, they do not offer autopay. I have to give my card number each month. The red flags were going off in my head, but I kept making the payments. Last month, I called on three different occasions to make the payment. No one answered the phone and on one occasion I left a message at the new answering machine giving my information. I never received a call back, but again I just got another bill in the mail. I point blank asked the person on the phone is this a scam? Are you scamming me? They said no, but it still feels like a scam. I dont know anyone else in this situation and there is only one contact number listed on the sparse bill.
