I used Argent to change my piping in the basement and a faucet in the kitchen last summer - all very good. Around Thanksgiving 2022 I had a toilet leaking issue and called them again. They decided I needed a new toilet. They told me I should get a comfort height toilet - just over an inch higher than what we had. I told them no less than 6 times I did not want a toilet where my 90-year-old mother cannot reach the floor with her feet. No, no, it's only just over an inch higher they assured us. After install, we discovered my mother could not reach the floor and it turns out the new toilet was about 3 inches taller than our old one. After much debate with the manager **** (who is almost impossible to get hold off, numerous emails and phone calls later), we agreed on picking a new lower toilet - the deal is we pay for the toilet, and he install for free. Today, 1/3/23, they returned with a new shorter toilet (great height) that has a mold/extruding defect in the rim. The front of the rim is lower than the rest of the rim. If you stand back, you can see, a very plain to the eye, a drop in the front of the rim. There is a large gap between the seat and the rim. They changed the toilet seat, problem NOT resolved. Then it was - your floor isn't level. It's the same floor we had with the previous 2 toilets (1 he removed 20 minutes earlier) with no problem. **** called me by phone very nasty - now what the h*** do you want? It's the toilet you wanted. I explained there was a defect when they molded the toilet, and we need a new toilet without a defect. Things got heated. Yelling exchanged. He tells me he's going to take out the toilet and leave a hole in the floor. So right now, the toilet is still here. The front rim lower than the rest of the rim, like some pouring spout. So far, over $1550 for the first toilet change out (Nov 2022) and another nearly $500 for this defective toilet today. Over $2000 - no satisfactory toilet and verbally abused by business manager.

We installed @ client request comfort height Toto drake toilet, after using the toilet client was dissatisfied requested new standard height ***************. We installed the new toilet and the client is still dissatisfied. The client requested another toilet. I did not want to leave a "Hole in the floor " and suggested keeping his second selected toilet, visiting a supplier where he would be able to sample a selection of toilets we believe is an appropriate solution to this continued problem. We have credited the client's credit card $1,451.44 (original toilet with labor and repairs) No charge for the second toilet labor or material. When the client chooses a preferable toilet we will gladly quote the installation , and removal of existing.

I am rejecting this response because:
he did tell me he would rip out the toilet and leave a hole.  aside from that, we rejected the first toilet because they said it was 1 inch higher than the old toilet and turned out to be 3 inches taller and my 90 year old handicapped mother could not reach the floor with her feet.  the second toilet, while perfect height, has a manufacturing defect in the toilet rim.  the business said they would have toto (manufacturer) contact us to come see the defect.  that has not happened.  i don't need to find a toilet that is suitable.  i will accept a new toilet of the same model that is currently installed minus the manufacturing defect.

      Complaint: 18678286

I am rejecting this response because:

I have been delayed in replying to your email since it went into spam; I've been weary - recovery from cancer and was in rehab/plus other medical issues - and complete disgust at Argent's reply.

To review, our toilet was leaking.  We called Argent Plumbing (******* **) who had previously done work for us successfully (potable water pipes replaced in the basement, install a slop sink in basement, install new kitchen faucet).  They suggested a comfort height toilet; I asked if it would be too tall for my 90-year-old handicapped mother.  No was the answer, only an inch higher.  Turned out it was 3 inches taller, and my mother's feet did not reach the floor.  I wanted a shorter toilet.  Argent agreed to install a shorter toilet model that I agreed to; they would pay for the install; mom would pay for the toilet.  The first toilet/install cost mom approx $1500 - approx one month of mom's Social Security.  Argent installed the new toilet, proper model, right height.  However, the toilet was a factory 'second', it has a deformed toilet rim that sags in the front of the bowl and with the toilet seat down looks like a goofy pumpkin grin.  **** of Argent was informed, he cursed me out on the phone, it was the model you wanted, now what the h*** do you want? and threatened to remove the toilet and leave a hole in the floor.  Having been to ******, I've seen and used where the toilet is a hole in the floor (2 footprints on the floor so you line up properly and a garden hose to flush), but this is the US, and we expect more.  I filed a complaint with BBB.  The final reply, that I no longer have access to because BBB has locked me out, said Argent's **** would not charge me for the second toilet and he was now done; go somewhere else.  Sure.  We just wasted $1500 for a toilet that's a manufacturer's second.  I have a 'free' second toilet that is deformed and we hate.  To replace this disgrace, mom would have to pay another $1500 to another plumber.  So, 2 months of Social Security payments for a new third toilet.  It's outrageous. It's good to have privilege and throw an old lady under the bus.  I'm not thrilled with doing business with Argent and he's not thrilled with me, but this is their mess, and they should clean it up and then we'll part ways. Mom has paid a lot of money for an unacceptable factory second.  I understand BBB's - he got a free toilet, we're done.  But let's pretend I bought a metal kitchen sink that arrived with a big dent and the dishes don't lie flat; should I settle if the sink is suddenly free?  Would either of you have a pumpkin grinning toilet in your house and be happy because it was a $1500 'free toilet'?  I am not satisfied with the so-called resolution.
