    Business Response

    Date: 05/07/2024

Guest was checked into room *** originally. The guest called the police to complain about the room condition. We spoke with police and moved the guest to room **** The guest inspected *** and decided to stay the entire night. We did give them the option to check out in the presence of the officer and refund. They decided to stay the entire which does not constitute a refund. If the guest was unhappy with the room most guest would leave and accept the refund. Not stay the entire and try to work the front desk for a refund. We suspect they have done this before at other hotels. All documented and also the *********** *** police should have video.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

the hotel was disgusting when I first got there I know I should have never stayed. When I got there the first room was destroyed nasty not cleaned bathroom dirty I checked into the second room same thing everything nasty not clean and dirty with hair in the bed. Room *** still had feces on the toilet and mold at the bottom of the shower curtain hair in the bathtub and in the bed the sheets were not clean. Obviously not cleaning at all there was trash still in the trash cans when I got into the room. I was told by the front desk that if I did check out the room that they were not going to refund me the full amount of the room which was $85.50 instead $30 which left me out of being able to rent another room for the night. so me and my 17 year old daughter decided to say so we will not lose any more funds than we already lost. The police was called and I have proof that they were only going to refund $30 of my money that night so I had to stay because I had no more money to stay anywhere else. I have been homeless for the past 4 years I live at the *********** ***** ***** in Cinnaminson New jersey. Every 30 days the township has an ordinance where you have to leave for one day and come back I chose to go to the Gene's Motel because it was right up the street from where I originally stay and right next door to my job that I have been working at for 20 years. I have never had to call the police on any hotel I've stayed at because of the condition of the room and treatment I received that night. And as far as them saying I did this before at other hotels they will definitely need to have prove them allegations because that is a lie and slander on my name and I will get my lawyer involved if I have to.  This motel needs to be shut down because it is not a clean livable hotel for anyone to stay at. They have been doing this for years to people. My next step is calling the health department because this is not right. Allowing rooms to be rented without being cleaned properly. This should be a health code violation for the condition of their rooms.

    Regards,
