I contacted the East Orange General Hospital now ****************************** on 03-28-24 and 04-09-24. I requested paperwork for financial assistance and never received it. I am a full time college student and I am about any negative impact to my credit. If I do not receive the paperwork, I am unable to complete it. The guarantor number is **********. I am not receiving timely assistance by phone. Whenever I call, the agents seem to be preoccupied.

I am rejecting this response because:

I contacted Cigna (12/8) and there was only one visit to East Orange General Hospital however, the codes for the charge was an influenza ER visit 00302 and 00450. There was no Covid related billing submitted. ***** stated and I remember that I was double billed in 2020, which had to be adjusted back on your end. I have never had influenza in my life and I was Covid negative after my visit I was told to get some cold medicine from the pharmacy because all I had was a common cold. Im not sure what went on that visit because I came and left with my friend who received the same information from her doctor and she was never charged by care well (East Orange Hospital). Im not sure what mistake was made but something is not right.

    Regards,

Lorchesca ****right and I am highly confused, and upset.

    Business Response

After further review, the patient came through the ** for a Covid test in March 2020 (beginning of the pandemic). At this time, there werent any regulations from the government/payers stating that there werent any charges for Covid tests. This wasnt updated by CMS until April 2020 (on or around 4/9/2020). Also, the patient had a level 3 ** visit, not just a Covid test. According to the patients insurance coverage, she is responsible for a $100 copay for Hospital ER visits, which is clearly stated on the insurance card. Lastly, the balance was then submitted to our Self-pay vendor, who sends statements/bills to our patients. I see that the account was returned to us by the vendor on 10/5/21 for mail return no recall. Once an account is returned and theres still a balance, it will automatically get assigned to our ****************** who will then do further investigation and reach out to the patients, prior to reporting it onto their credit. The address we have on file for the patient is ********************************************************************************. Cigna has the same address on file. However, the address listed on the BBB complaint from the patient is **************************************************************. This could have been the issue, if there was no forwarding mailing address and/or the patient didnt answer her phone (the phone # on the BBB Complaint is the same one we have). At this time, the balance is still the patients responsibility. If there is still an issue with how the insurance processed her claim, she has every right to bring this up with *****. However, they have processed the claim properly and theres not much more we can do on our end. Please contact me at ****.*******@carewellhealth.org or ************ if you have any additional questions.
