I went into this store for notary services this past Saturday and the owner was clearly prejudice and behaving very unprofessionally. When I asked him why he would not be able to conduct the notary services he did not give me a solid answer as to why he turned down my services. Instead he became belligerent and asking me what country are these documents for and why did I need these notarized and that the **** doesnt require this. All of his questions made me uncomfortable and he was not willing to help.

This customer came in to complete a notary. Normally, we as notaries, sign as a witness to a signature. Her requirement was a little different as she wanted to certify copies of documents and some passport photos. I was asking her simple questions about finding instructions on how to complete her notary and she couldn't show me anything including her not having the original documents of the copies. In the state of **, we are required to see the original documents of a paper if we are being asked to make "certified copies" of a document. She did not have those. She also requested to have some passport photos notarized. I asked her what country or agency it was for, and instructions. The reason for this is to make sure we are putting the required information on the passport photo. For instance, Canada requires a statement from the notary on the back of the passport photo, and only one photo shall be stamped. The UK has a different set of requirements. As I was asking her questions, which by the way, we do for every single notary service (do you understand the document, etc) she became visibly and verbally defensive and rude. At that point, I decided that I was not comfortable completing this notary, not only because of her rudeness, but also that she was actively stopping me from understanding what we are doing with the notary. We had also discussed that I needed the original documents if I was going to certify them. She was extremely hostile and I told her I would not be completing the notary.
