My sister booked the Market Basket to cater her wedding, that was to take place at ***** ***** ******* in ******* *****. The Market Basket was aware that this was an unusual venue given that there was no kitchen and they would have to supply ovens and a way to clean dishes. They were aware of the venue and said they has catered events their in the past and had no concerns about this venue. Given the Market Basket has been a catering company for many years we thought they would be able to handle this wedding with no issues. Unfortunately that was not the case. They send the wrong table cloths, and did not fix the issue until the day of the wedding. They were aware that the bar area was downstairs from the main event area, and were told that during the arrival of the guest, signature cocktails were to be offered to guests, ( they only made 1 pitcher of drinks) and ran out before many of the guest arrived, which meant they had to go back down the the bar area and make more. This delayed guests getting their drinks, They were also told to place bottles of wine on each table so that guest could help themselves, this did not occur, and the waitstaff kept running up and down the stairs, with single glassed of wine. George the catering manager, was not at all cooperative and had an attitude towards my sister and her guest. I must say after having used the Market Basket in the past for several events and attended events they catered, I was extremely disappointed in their service and lack or professionalism. After spending around $12,000 for catering, I would have hoped for much better service.

    Business Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the wedding catered by Market Basket at ********************
We appreciate your taking the time to communicate your concerns.  However, for this event, we worked directly with the client
and they did not express any issues on the day of their wedding. After the event, we received positive feedback
from the client, ******* *****, including a gratuity, which suggests satisfaction with our overall execution and professionalism.

We would like to clarify a few misleading points raised about the event:

Table Linens: The linens provided were specific to the event's requirements. Our team set them up correctly for the different-sized tables
as planned during the setup time before the event began. They were improperly setup by others causing some confusion for the client.

Beverage Service: The signature cocktails were prepared fresh to maintain quality, with a bartender dedicated to ensuring all guests
were served promptly. Our goal was to prevent any dilution and maintain the high standard of service that Market Basket is known for.

Wine Service: The decision not to place wine bottles on tables was intentional and aimed at creating a more tailored and interactive
guest experience. Additionally, we have found that open bottles can lead to unnecessary waste if not all guests consume wine.
Our bartender was well-prepared and equipped to efficiently serve guests from a station on the dinner floor.

The only issue raised by the actual client was related to a red wine spill. We coordinated with the venue immediately
to cover the cost of cleaning, ensuring that the situation was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
Our proactive response underlines our commitment to responsibility and client satisfaction in every aspect of our service.
We value the relationship we have built with our clients and the community over the years and are committed to excellence
    in every event we cater.

We look forward to creating more memorable experiences for everyone in the future and hope
this clarifies our position on the matters raised.

    Complaint: 22667285

I am rejecting this response because:

Beverage Service: The signature cocktails were prepared fresh to maintain quality, with a bartender dedicated to ensuring all guests (They could have very well been prepared ahead of time without dilution, as if they were made a few minutes prior to guest arrival, they would have been consumed within a short while as guests were served them upon arrival into the venue)
were served promptly. Our goal was to prevent any dilution and maintain the high standard of service that Market Basket is known for.

Wine Service: The decision not to place wine bottles on tables was intentional and aimed at creating a more tailored and interactive (This was not communicated and the Market Basket making the decision without consulting is not catering to the client)
guest experience. Additionally, we have found that open bottles can lead to unnecessary waste if not all guests consume wine.
Our bartender was well-prepared and equipped to efficiently serve guests from a station on the dinner floor. (That is your opinion and not that of the client) Like I said ****** needs to learn the adage "The customer is always right".

The servers over all were very rude and not at all cooperative.

    Regards,
