Began to apply for dual Italian American citizenship on May 6, 2021 and sent payment via credit card of $2,250. Since then he has not provided proof of filings and I have found that he has done this to other clients. I wish to file a complaint to warn others and to obtain a refund for services I never received.

Signed agreement for Italian dual citizenship services along initial payment of $2500 in January 2020. The first step in the process was for DeSapio to collect the necessary supporting documents for “citizenship by descent” but during this four-year period very little has been accomplished despite various assurances that we are nearly ready to present the necessary documentation to the Italian courts. Key documents, including a birth certificate for my grandfather who was born in Umbria and my father’s birth certificate were not obtained. Reports that all documents were available and the necessary translations were ready were false. Most recently, an apostile required to certify a Certificate of Nonexistence of Record (verifying that my grandfather did not obtain naturalization as a US citizen) was reported to be in-hand last October during a phone conversation - but later learned that the request was issued on February 2 (following that phone call). On February 23, 2025 I sent Mike De Sapio an email listing all that I have discovered regarding missing documents and numerous other matters that indicated he has not delivered on agreed upon services or any interim promises regarding these items.

I also requested a full accounting of the status of the documents, their translations, apostile, etc or full refund of initial deposit ($2500) and is clearly consistent with the signed agreement which states “in the event that the Provider is unable to retain all the necessary documents required for the client’s dual citizenship application .. the Provider shall issue a refund of the client’s retainer monies less any out of pocket expenses.

My Family contracted with company to obtain dual citizenship, owner accepted money, and given personal identification documents from entire family- birth certificates , drivers license, social security numbers, passports and power of attorney. Owner claimed we had a court hearing, approved for Italian citizenship set up accounts with the Italian consulate- multiple states, perpetrated lie after lie. This includes another family. He refunded my payment - not my sisters $3700. We requested our documents- we gave him ancestry records and our personal identification records. He provided us with a fake *** tracking number. No package picked up, **** Desapio has not responded to multiple requests.
