I spoke with Rob M. on Jan 10, 2024, I told him I was moving from ***** ** to ********** and would like a quote on a full-service move he told me he would have someone call me on Zoom for me to do a walk thru of my house to show all of the items I wanted to have moved he told me this would be a better way to give a more accurate estimate to avoid having a change in price once the movers showed up. I was sent an estimate after the call for $8,588.00 I told Rob I would move forward with the company and a date was set. I called at the beginning of March and asked if I had to pack any of my shoes or clothing and was told these items were included in the estimate I was given. On March 14, 2024 Lopez Moving company showed up and packed up all that was in my house and once the truck was loaded I was told there was an additional charge of $7000 that was due upon delivery of my things and before they could unload the truck i would have to pay the balance in a postal money order or cash. I got a call from a person named Shelly who identified herself as a move coordinator she said that I was quoted for a move with 288 items but I had over 400 items and because of this there would be an additional charge of 7000 for the items that were counted were individual boxes of shoes, clothes hampers, luggage and gardening tools that were supposed to be accounted for I also sold items before my move that were not present and counted at the time the mover came I told him the initial contact had items accounted for that he no longer needed to include when the price was given he said that had nothing to do with all of the items he as now adding to the new quote for $7000 he gave me. I feel like I was a sitting duck and was taken advantage of because I had to be out of the house by the next day to close on the sale of my house I was not told or given a chance to say no to the new price before they loaded the truck or I would have told then never mind. I would like an adjustment and a refund for the extra money I was charged because I trusted with the zoom call the calculations given to me were the correct ones they are professionals and I don't believe it could have been that far off in price.
