On July 7, 2022 I called American Home Shield (a home warranty service) to report an issue with my Oil burning furnace not sending heat to the first and second zone in my home. Day later, American Home Shield sent a contractor (J&S Heating & Cooling) to my home to fix the issue. Right away the contractor complained about the wiring issue on my furnace and started cutting wires out and disconnecting two transformers. Immediately I noticed my smart thermostat ecobee stopped working. After about 10 minutes, the contractor stated that I need the following parts to be replaced:1. Aquastat 2. Circulator Pump 3. Transformers 4. Ecobee Thermostats Contractor then stated that he will need to contact my home warranty service to authorize the purchase and the installation of above mentioned parts and the fixing of wiring on my furnace. He also mentioned that since my home warranty service can only cover $1500 per year, Ill be responsible for about $400 (possibly more) out of the packet for this repair. It turned out that old circulator pump which contractor stated was faulty, was indeed working fine during the test after it was replaced. The contractor (J&S HEATING & COOLING), in order to maximize his profit from the visit, was trying to falsely claim that parts like the circulator pump and ecobee thermostat needed to be replaced so that he could **** me for both parts and then install. The visit not only did not fix my furnace but because of cut wires and disconnected transformers made my furnace in worse shape than it was before the visit with neither thermostat working.
